After Party In Baltimore

Allison, on July 21, 2011 at 10:45 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

122 days to go, OH MY! Anyway, we are getting married at Valley Country Club on a Sunday and since our reception will end around 9:30pm, I am pretty sure we will want to keep the party going back in the city. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions on where to go? Since it is a Sunday, I imagine that by the time we go out, there football crowds will have cleared out (unless there is a major Sunday night game). I live in the city so I definitely want to avoid the Inner Harbor. Also how do we get the word out? Should we include it in the invitation or just word of mouth it?

We had an after-party at the hotel bar where everyone was staying. That way we didn't have to worry about anyone getting lost or drinking and driving. Then when the bar closed, my sister hosted an after-after party in her room with drunky snacks (fried chicken, doughnuts), drinks, and bottles of Gatorade.

In general, I think it's best to do the hotel bar, or see if someone will rent a suite. All you'd need to do is get some cases of beer and order a few pizzas.

I think after-parties in regular bars can go wrong very easily. I was at Continental in Rosslyn a few years back, and saw a wedding roll in. Half the wedding party were total idiots and didn't bring ID, so the bride was screaming her bloody head off at the bouncer and saying he just HAD to let her maid of honor in. The bouncer was like, "No ID, no entry, what part of 'against the law' don't you understand?" It was a huge drama and totally not worth it.

LOLOLOL. I can imagine. I would normally agree about the hotel bar/suite, except 75% of the people who would join us live in the Canton/Fells Point areas of Baltimore and won't be staying at a hotel. Being local everyone will just cab it or DD to the wedding and then do the same home.

We had a mostly local crew as well, but most people made it back to the hotel bar.

And, for the record, I didn't feel a bit sorry for the bride or anyone else in that group. They were dumb (who doesn't bring their ID to a bar?) and rude (yelling at a guy who can get in legal trouble for letting you in is not cool).
