After Party - yes or no?

After you having an after party post-wedding? FH and I are deciding if we should tell guests to just meet at the same street of bars or organize something at the hotel we're staying at the wedding night. Did you have an after party? Why or why not?

This was a big part of our planning, we purposely chose our hotel for the room block based on the bar for the after party! This is what we put on our website and also printed on a card for the welcome bags: "The party doesn't have to end when the last dance does! Join the bride, groom and their families at the [Hotel Name]'s bar, Northern Lights, after the reception to continue the celebration." It was informal, non-hosted, and I'm SO glad we did it! So many of our guests were there, probably like 40 people. Many older guests didn't come but still plenty of my parents' friends and our aunts/uncles were there, plus our cousins and friends. I changed into a shorter white dress to be a little more comfortable. Our reception went til 11, I would have loved it to go til 12, but we would have done the after party either way. Really, I can't remember the last wedding I went to that didn't have some sort of "after party".

ETA: We still had sex on our wedding night! For all the party poopers saying to just go have sex, it doesn't take THAT long and then what are you supposed to do the rest of the night?! Sleep?! No way lol.

We have our venue until 2am, though it's highly unlikely we'll have it last that long. So I don't think an after party is needed for us.

We had one but I didn't make it - I was asleep in the hotel.

My brothers wedding is having one but only because it's city law they have to be done at the venue by 10pm.

Thank you for saying that @annakay!!

Our reception ends at 11 and we plan to have an unhosted after party at a bar across the street from the hotel. FH and I are waiting for our wedding night to be intimate again. After almost 3 years of no sex I'm pretty sure it won't take that long and we'll still be able to party the rest of the night away with our guests lol!

Our reception can go until 1pm and since it is at a hotel, we have the option of booking the conference room to have a place to hang out and chill after that. BUT the venue is a 10 minute drive from Niagara Falls soooooo... plenty of casinos and bars if people still want to go out after!

Our ceremony is on a Sunday and will be ending at 10pm. We are a few blocks from downtown where all the bars are so we will probably let our close friends know we may hit up a few bars before turning in for the night. I know our close friends are taking Monday off so I know they'll be up for a party. They ARE having to wait 2 years for this. They'll want to celebrate lol!

We're having a super small wedding early in the day. I suggested having an "after party" at the bar right down the road (which is also where we met) but FH is afraid we'll be too worn out to enjoy the wedding night, so I guess the plan right now is a big party at his one friend's place a week or so later.
