After the Wedding

Mandi, on January 9, 2020 at 1:12 PM Posted in Married Life 0 15
What are you looking forward to after the wedding?

For me, it's a few things.
1) The Honeymoon. We have a honeymoon countdown prominently displayed in our house. We are more excited about the honeymoon than we are the wedding. Aka the signing of legal documents. 2) I WANT MY HOUSE BACK. We closed on our house in late May. Which means we lived there for about 10 weeks til August when I start my part time job and work pretty much every day August 1 til Dec. 24. We just finished painting the last room during Christmas break... and our storage room went from being storage to being wedding craft room. I'm looking forward to it's transformation into it being our second guest room and my closet.
3) As I picked up my tote to head to work this morning... I dumped it out because it was SOOOO heavy. [Seriously, probably had to be around 25 pounds.] In a few short weeks, I'll empty out my expandable folio, and probably stop carrying it around. 4) Working on our financial health. I can't wait to stop spending money! Wedding this, honeymoon that. Let's stay home and be boring! We couldn't find the time or extra cash to hit a hockey game this year. And I'm pretty sad about that! What are you and your fiance looking forward to after this shindig ends? Looking for fun answers, so babies isn't a valid answer. [Sorry, fiance and I just dont like babies. 🤷‍♀️]

YES to numbers 1, 2, and 4! I'm so excited for our getaway to the mountains for our honeymoon. Our spare bedroom in our house is literally packed with wedding stuff, I cannot wait to clear out all the clutter. We're doing perfectly fine financially, but I am NOT a spender and I hate seeing money leave our account all the time for wedding stuff. I know our wedding will be amazing because of it, but I'm ready to go back to being cheap Smiley xd (and saving to buy a house by the end of the year)

    1) Mini-moon of 2 days away from all the hustle and bustle of work.

    2) Finally finishing our house. We need to renovate the bathrooms, change the flooring, add moulding,...etc etc etc....so much

    3) Looking for a new job. I work contract work so my goal was to stay at my current place until the wedding cause they pay really well, and then find something closer to home so I don't have a long commute.

    4) Sorry, but babies is on our list! We have a prenatal appointment after the wedding. We were talking about kids before we were talking about getting married, and the baby plan was set way before the wedding as well.

That's fair. Fiance's mom wants to be a grandma SO BAD. And none of us have plans. Her answer to my fiance telling her I was having a hysterectomy due to cancer issues was "adopt!" (I promise that was not as insensitive as it might sound.)

I completely understand! When we first started dating it was fine, but since I've been in my 30s I've had baby fever on my mind. Also, FH's dad passed a couple of years ago so now his mom keeps saying she wants to "be alive to see her grandkids". It doesn't bother me cause I'm on my own schedule, but it's interesting how bad she wants to be a grandma My parents don't really mind if I have kids, they just aren't as excited as FH's mom.

Don't worry, I don't think it sounds insensitive to say adopt. But, she should realize you guys will do what you want. Don't let them pressure you!

Our main excitement was the honeymoon (and it truly was amazing) and having free weekends again haha! Towards the end of our engagement, every weekend was vendor meetings, tastings, walk-throughs, DIY things, dress fittings, etc. and it was a lot!

    1. The mini-moon that we have planned about a month after the wedding. 2. We are going to start looking for a house after the wedding. 3. Having our sports room back which is now a sports room and wedding room. 4. Sorry, but my FH and I are super excited to start on our family. We want to start after the honeymoon.

    1) the stress of wedding planning to be over!

    2) Although we haven’t decided where we are going I’m super excited for the honeymoon. In the 5 years we have been together every time we go to take a vacation somehow other couples always end up joining us so it will be our first solo vacation!!
    3) I’m also excited and cannot wait for the day we find out we are going to be parents! 🙌🏻

I am looking forward to EVERYTHING! I am so tired of planning and spending money. My FH cousin gifted us a suite in Buckhead (we live in Atlanta) for our wedding night. Then we leave for our honeymoon in Jamaica the next day. Our flight leaves at 6pm, so we plan to go to breakfast in the city and just get lost together. And sorry, we are praying for a honeymoon baby.

I am excited for a honeymoon. we didn't do one right after the wedding - he wanted to plan something for the following year (this year) so i'm excited to see what he plans! (we already have kids so it'll be nice to do a vacation without them lol)

i am SO READY to buy a house. tired of living in a small basement apartment.

CHANGING THAT LAST NAME. Seriously, I love my extended family and the first time I expressed excitement towards this I felt so guilty because it made my gramma sad. but I don’t have a relationship with my father and since I’m still around the small town he was known it, it hurts when someone realizes I’m “his” daughter. I can’t wait to be relieved of that weight on my shoulders, I will be now a part of the family I now have. (I know you said fun things, so I’ll also say I’m super looking forward to our very low key, introverted cabin honeymoon and no responsibilities!)

I'm excited for people to FINALLY stop asking when we are getting married and why we waited so long. We've been together 10 years. These questions have been constant for like 4 years now.
