After-Wedding weekend getaway ideas

Danielle, on July 17, 2017 at 7:27 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 22

I am looking for a nice romantic place for my FH and I to go for the weekend after our wedding. I'm a teacher so I can't go on a honeymoon right away but definitely don't want to go back home the weekend after our wedding day. We live in NJ and would like to go someplace that we can get to by car, so within the northeast, for two nights. Our wedding is on a friday and I have to be back at work tuesday. Any suggestions are appreciated

There are tons of sweet B&B's in NJ; Mohonk House in NY is gorgeous, so is the Bear Mountain Inn (they have two resorts there).

You could head out to Mystic, CT which I love, or to Lake Winni in NH, make the most of those pretty NE leaves!

I'm in the same boat. I'm a teacher, but I saved days from this past year to carry over to this year haha. Anyway, we're doing a minimoon at a B&B in Gettysburg. We booked it back in February, and things were already booking up. October is a very popular time to travel, all the awesome fall foliageSmiley smile

I'm a NJ teacher too and my FH and I have to take short weekend trips normally lol I would recommend either going to DC, Baltimore, the poconos, or northern NY.

NJ teacher here too. We spent a few nights at a great B&B in Cape May. It was off season so no crowds but it was gorgeous.

We spent a weekend at the Grand Cascades Lodge at Crystal Springs... it was gorgeous! I actually felt like I left Jersey for awhile.

And I bet the foliage in October will be beautiful!

@Danielle- it was the Queen Victoria. It's a block from the ocean and a block or two from Washington street. We splurged on our room and it was gorgeous. Picture doesn't do it justice. The inn keeper's wife cooks breakfast every morning if you want to eat in the dining room.

NY teacher getting married in April and having the same problem. I currently live upstate and definitely second the finger lakes region!! The seneca lake wine trail is beautiful up here!! The Adirondacks would be a relaxing get away, especially in the fall! I would also suggest the Hamptons on Long Island, or Montauk area as well.

Hudson Valley area (Warwick) is nice. There's a couple of wineries.

Are you open to driving? Portland, Maine is nice and 5-hour drive away. I went once in December and the weather wasn't much colder than NJ. It was off season. Here's a photo of a beautiful lighthouse near there. Or Niagara Falls (both US/Canada side, but stay on Canada side. It's a 5-hour drive. I've heard Lake Placid is nice too.
