Afterparty- how to announce it’s cash bar?

Jennifer, on May 16, 2021 at 12:23 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 8
Hi all! So our wedding is at a hotel, and we have the hotel bar available to us for an afterparty. How/If/When do we announce the after party would be a cash bar? I’m vehemently against cash bars for cocktail hours and receptions, so those will NOT be cash bars.

We have a wedding website so maybe something on there? Just need help with the wording! Or would guests know through after party is separate? Thanks!

I don't think you need to announce its a cash bar. If anything, you can say something like "we will be at the hotel bar after the wedding if you want to keep the party going" to separate it from the hosted event.

Word of mouth or your website. Just say “there is an after party at (location) at (time). Feel free to join us. Drinks are guest responsibility “ and list the address so they can find it.

Depending on your crowd, an after party might be completely foreign or customary. Give details as though it is unfamiliar to your guests to be safe, if you want people to participate.

I agree, no need to say anything. Most people know that once you leave the venue, everything else is extra.

I don't think you need to make an announcement at all. If you are providing alcohol for all the earlier events that is definitely enough, and people will expect that "after" the wedding is on them.
