Against the kissing bells?

So I hate the idea of kissing bells so we're not getting them, but did anyone who was against this tradition have a way of letting people know they didn't want to do it?

@ Future Mrs Reid, where did you find them?

I don't plan to have bells at our wedding. I honestly don't think we'll have many people clinking their glasses to see us kiss either. But then again, who knows. I know my family won't, because it would probably make them uncomfortable to see me kissing another woman. They'll just have to get over the "big one" at the end of the ceremony. That one is all mine. =)

If the bells aren't there, most people don't notice. In my experience at weddings, friends are the only ones who clink their glasses just to be funny. Parents usually don't want to see their kids making out at the reception all night. FH is not into pda at all, so I suppose if someone gets the idea to clink their glass I will presume they are going to give a nice, heartfelt toast to the newly married couple!

Once you give in a kiss the first time, it will continue all night!

We're probably going to have kissing bells because they are the lesser evil. I know my family & I know FHs family, and I know that if there are no kissing bells (and maybe even if there are) people will pound on the table (our venue uses plastic cups for drinks so there will be no clinking) and although I think the whole idea is rather irritating, I'd rather hear bells all night than pounding on the tables.

@ dragonfly - I agree they are the lesser evil! LOL! I'm thinking one bell per table and having the DJ announce that there will be no tapping of glasses - with only one bell it can't get too out of hand. My friend got married in October and the glass tapping was horribly loud and annoying.

I have never heard of these bells until now, but I have seen guest do the clinking, it's very annoying. 2 weeks ago at my friends wedding, people were doing that and they just ignored them and they stop.

@FMS, I love your ideas and the rules.
