ahhhh sooo confused!

Jessica, on April 30, 2016 at 7:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

Hi Ladies!

I am extremely confused so as of last week I was fully convinced that I was getting married at Rockleigh Country Club until my mom saw a post on facebook that the owners of Park Savoy are opening a brand new wedding hall in East Brunswick called Park Chateau. I just came back from meeting with the owners of Park Chateau and it looks absolutely beautiful from what I can see! But it is literally not even fully built yet there are just bare concrete walls and floors. They just showed me pictures and it looks very pretty. But there prices are extremely high! They are priced around the same thing as Rockleigh but I am not able to see physically what the place looks like which is a really scary thing to do when your spending a lot of money! Has anyone done that I am not sure what to do I am in love with both places lol (well one doesn't physically exist yet!)

You're getting married in 2019 so you still have time before you need to book your venue. Wait until it's built and go from there.

Yeah I would just wait. You don't need to even worry about this until like January 2018.

As a side note - I've attended a wedding at Park Savoy and it's beautiful so I am sure that the new place will be too.

Your wedding is 3 and half years away and your already planning your wedding?! That's TOO long to be stressing over wedding stuff. You need to wait til 2018 at least. That still gives u a year and half.

I wouldn't book anything this far in advance. I know with me, my opinion changes so much. Don't get under contract this soon. Take your time b

The problem with waiting is the owner said they are asking pre building prices which he said is going to go up a lot once the venue is built. They are asking $245 a person for 2017 and 2018 weddings and by 2019 the prices are going to go much much higher if I wait until it's built .. The thing is both venues are super expensive that's why we're booking early to get the cheaper prices.

IMO $245 a person is crazy too. What does that include?

I would wait. What happens if you pre book and it doesn't turn out the way you thought it would be?

If you pre book they want you to put. 20% deposit and you can't get it back :/ it's a lot to think about they guy said he's so sure it's going to be gorgeous.. They already have like 10 weddings booked for 2017

245 includes full cocktail hour sit down dinner and Viennese hour. It does not Include tax or gratuity. I know it's a lot to book without even seeing the place and that's the pre building price!

Booking far in advance is very typical in New Jersey and yes those prices are also common especially for top venues like rockleigh, Venetian, etc. i know several couples who have spent upwards of 300+ per plate.

I would suggest you check out park savoy and naninas in the park since they are from the same owners. This will allow you to get the feel for what park chateau is going to be like. They are both VERY similar. I like naninas a bit more but I'm biased Smiley winking

We don't know your total budget.

The venue and food is normally the biggest chunk of it but there are so many things to consider when figuring out how to allocate your budget. Have you done some research on how much other vendors and things you would like to have cost in your area?

Also tax and gratuity can be around an additional 30% or more. Did the price per person include linens, rentals (china/tables), a day of coordinator? I would get in writing everything that price point includes. I would say $245 a person is on the high end of anything I've seen. People have posted pretty amazing venues and catering packages at around ~100 a person. I'd shop around; I'm sure you'll find another place you will love and has all your Wishlist!

I get that Jersey weddings are a whole other ball game, but that price really is excessive if it's just food. Does that include open bar? You have so long until your wedding, do some research, I'm sure you can find a venue that's complete for less that you'll fall in love with.

What if they go bankrupt and don't finish the venue? Or a recession hits. Or a natural disaster? A building permit issue? So many things could deter them from actually completing that I would never book it.

You are 3+ years away. Just relax.
