Air BnB for venue site??

Rebecca, on October 5, 2016 at 6:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Hi brides to be!

Anyone know of any AirBnB locations in NE that would be appropriate for a wedding?? I am hunting and have found a few in VT, but trying to be creative in our venue space and AirBnB seems like a good area to explore! If anyone knows of anything, it would be great to hear from you !

AirBnB owner can cancel your booking anytime for any reason. I would not recommend that as a wedding venue.

How large is your guest list? That seem risky to me, as the owner can reserve the right to cancel at anytime.

I'm not too up on what airbnb is... but isn't it basically a private home at which you stay for an agreed upon amount of time? Like, you would be inviting your guests to party at someone's private residence while they are out of town?

I'm too nervous and too much of a planner to use a site like that. I need a stone cold contract, and wedding insurance, and I'm still anxious about issues that could happen.

I wouldn't. There was a story on our local NYC news about a couple who paid 6000.00 for an air B&B venue that cancelled two weeks before their wedding. It was a miserable experience for them.

AirBnB also has policies against throwing parties/get-togethers at the places listed on their site. Not saying you shouldn't go forward with this, but I would urge you to be very transparent with the owner about what you intend to do on their property before booking. This will hopefully lower the chances of last-minute cancellations and prevent any repercussions from AirBnb. You'd hate for the owner to find out your intentions, cancel last minute and then alert AirBnb to what you are doing and have your account de-activated.

Don't recommend it. Most don't allow large get togethers and they can cancel leaving you without a venue.

In a lot of states/counties, you have to have a license to be able to use your home as a wedding venue. Even if you're planning a smaller affair, you definitely should be up front with the homeowner since they are often liable for any issues. AirBnB offers no protection to the renter. So they could decide the before your wedding to cancel you reservation.

I'm assuming "NE" means North East? When I read this first, I got super excited to see another Nebraska (the NE state) bride

Thanks ladies. NE meaning new england. I've been very transparent about all the inquiries, and some actually advertise as a great space for weddings. A barn in VT for example. But I appreciate the warning and caution messages! Trying to not use a wedding mill and also keep the costs down! Happy hunting continues !

I would be very leery about this. If it's something like The Redmond House (above) where you get a full contract, go for it. The standard AirBnB agreement is less certain than I'd like for a wedding.

There's a big issue in my community right now about an airbnb that's renting out for parties, and neighbors are not happy. The last thing you need is the police arriving at your wedding.
