Air brush or not to air brush?

Julie, on August 2, 2019 at 12:16 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 8
Hi!

Just wanted some opinions. My fiance hates heavy make up, (sometimes to the point of pointing out particularly spray tanned and painted ladies). I told him that I would look like that at the beginning of the wedding because it needs to last all day...which leads me to my question : to airbrush or not to air brush?

If you could try both, that would be best. I'm personally not a fan of airbrush because I have dry skin and acne scarring and pitting. So when I've gotten airbrushed makeup, it clung to the dry skin and imperfections. I need heavier makeup. When I've tried to have it fixed, they sprayed lotion on top and I looked wet for 20 or so minutes then dry again and back to the same problem as before. I think the best bet is to find a great artist who can do a nice natural look while still giving you perfect skin (airbrush or not), nice lashes, etc.

Personally I hate heavy makeup but I did airbrush and loved it. It lasted all day and felt super natural. They layer it on so you can decide how much you want and can stop at anytime. I say to try both of your MUA will do that for your trial. Good luck!

I have really dry skin, so airbrush wasn't a good fit for me. It made my skin look really flaky.

Airbrush worked great for me on my wedding day! It was very light and looked so natural - I just looked glammed up! It's not thick at all.

I prefer airbrush because it has better staying power, better coverage, and doesn't streak if you cry or sweat. It also doesn't feel or look heavy. However, if you have dry skin (which I do) you will need to prep your skin a couple of months ahead of time with a skin care routine that adds extra moisture (otherwise it can flake and not set well). My HMUA recommend Radha Rosehip Oil which I began using at my trial in October for my wedding in December. By the time my wedding came both my HMUA and I noticed the difference. At my trial, my skin was a little flaky with the airbrush makeup but I didn't have that problem at my wedding. In fact, even though I was 41 on my wedding day, my skin looked radiant. Here are some pics of me throughout the day of my wedding so you can see how long it lasted. It still looked so good by the time I went to bed I didn't want to take it off and actually still had my makeup on the next day at my farewell brunch.
