Airbnb for honeymoon?

Jillian, on June 21, 2016 at 7:32 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 22

I have never used Airbnb but have heard a lot of good things about it. I just randomly thought I would look up our possible honeymoon destinations on there and it's so much cheaper and still looks nice! The only thing I might miss is the big pool and poolside bars that we would probably have if we stayed at a resort. Have you considered using that instead of a hotel for your honeymoon?

I love airbnb! I've used it here and out of the country. It's a nice way to save money. It just depends on what kind of honeymoon you were planning to have. Did you want to relax at a resort and sip cocktails in the pool? Or are you just looking for a place to stay while you go out and explore?

Airbnb is amazing! If you decide to go that way, I would definitely rent the whole house (it'd be kinda weird if you only had one room to yourselves).

I've used it once and it was great. We tend to like to live like the locals when we travel so it's more in line with our style. We're using VRBO for our honeymoon and I can't wait! One place is a studio on the water. The owners live in the rest of the house and reviews said that they're really helpful in pointing you to the best kept local secrets. It really depends on how you like to travel, but it can definitely save you money.

We liked Airbnb, but found many places raised the rates when they found out we were American. And our interpretation of "air conditioning" varies greatly. Ha!

FH and I have used Airbnb and we love it. He actually proposed while we went on vacation to NC and we were staying at an Airbnb. We have used it twice and both times have been great. If you are going to a place and you wish to explore on your own I would recommend using it (read a lot of reviews) if you are just trying to relax by the pool or beach and have some drinks then I would recommend an all-inclusive. It really all depends.

I haven't used it myself, but my brother and SIL used air bnb for a few legs of their honeymoon across Europe. It saved them a lot of money so they were able to do a lot more while they were there, and they said everywhere they stayed was pretty nice :-)

My friend and her husband also used air bnb a few places when they honeymooned across Canada. They stayed in a few hotels as well, but she said the air bnb was one of their favorites- the person left them a card and a bottle of champagne, and it was a really sweet touch that made it really special.

I've never used it before but while on our honeymoon we met other travelers who highly recommended it. We will probably try it for our next trip.

We booked Airbnb's for our 10 day honeymoon in Colorado. We've had great experiences with them. We did make an effort to reserve whole homes/units so we'd have some privacy and be able to stay in and relax if we decided to.

We use air BnB every time we go out of town and have never had an issue. When we go to Puerto Rico in August, we're staying in a studio right on its own private beach. I love Air BnB!

We are doing vrbo in Maui and I love it. We are not big hotel or nightlife people so we love the personal feel it gives plus we can save money cooking.

FH and I travel quite a bit and anymore we almost exclusively use AirBnB. I agree with the other posters...read the reviews. In general though, I find we end up staying in much cooler parts of town and in places with a lot more character than if we were at a hotel. Also, they usually feel more homey which is nice.

I found a lot of quirky places near me on airbnb. I have never used it but I like looking and I am considering using it for the honeymoon. So far I found a treehouse and a bus.

The strangest one I found was a swinging bed under a tree that someone rents out. You just rent the bed from 5pm to morning. What happens if it rains? lol

Th most ridiculous imo was a docked boat. You can use the bathroom up the dock for free or they charge you $25 to use the bathroom on the boat

It's good. I've used AirBnB domestically and abroad about 15 times. I was big into couchsurfing in the past, so this seemed like the natural progression of things for me. Not really into hotels, hate resorts at this stage of my life, and I like being in the thick of it. We booked 3 weeks worth of Airbnb's for our upcoming honeymoon. We've been in great contact with the hosts and have read the reviews and that's all you can do. We trust it and have traveled enough that if something falls through it's not a big deal. I've never had an issue with a price being raised on account of me being American, either... ever.

Just thought of this...you can find condos and such within "resorts" that have all of the same ammentities. Think about things like condos at the beach. Some friends of ours have a condo at North myrtle beach. It's connected to the hilton and is managed by the hilton so they get to use all of the amenities. Which, that hilton is ah-mazing.

I've used it. I don't think it's significantly less expensive. But it's I think more about the cost and more about the experience.

We're travelling around and are doing mostly hotels but we threw in a few airbnbs as well where we found nice ones. We've travelled in aribnbs before and it was almost always a great experience where you get to meet locals who know the area well! Just make sure to check out all the info and the reviews to be sure how much privacy you'll have.
