I have never used Airbnb but have heard a lot of good things about it. The only thing I might miss is the big pool and poolside bars that we would probably have if we stayed at a resort. Have you considered using that instead of a hotel for your honeymoon?

I'm staying in an air BnB right now in Greece, actually. I'm here for fieldwork, which is entirely different, but I do have to say that it works well for vacation-type destinations. The couple I am renting from owns several properties surrounding my studio, and from what I can tell, most are couples on their honeymoon. I agree with PP -- try and stay only with people who have good reviews.

You will miss out on the pool/cocktails aspect, and also might miss the typical hotel service. In my case, I wasn't expecting any, but it is annoying to schlep 30 pounds of equipment up the many stairs in a Greek village. There is the benefit of more privacy and a kitchen. Luckily for the couples staying around me, the center of town is a 2 minute walk and there's plenty to do (I've been working the whole time, ha!). So I guess, if you are, spring for a good location (near the beach, bar, etc.)

My friend used it for her honeymoon and she can't stop recommending it! Like someone else mentioned though, depends on what kind of honeymoon you want. If you want the hotel / lay by the pool feel, I wouldn't go that route. But if you need somewhere to sleep between your adventures in a city I think it's an awesome idea!
