Airbrush Makeup Question

JuleeM, on August 5, 2015 at 10:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hi all. I was having dinner the other day with a group of people and one woman does wedding makeup (she isn't my makeup artist). She asked me what I was doing for my wedding and I told her I was probably going to go with airbrush foundation. She said she doesn't recommend it because if you cry at all and a tear runs down your face, the makeup in that area will come off or be streaked and you can't touch it up. Is this true? I am sure I will become a blubbery mess during our ceremony, but I had always heard that airbrush was MORE durable, not less. Can anyone share their experience? It isn't that I don't believe her. I'm just curious how it went for others.

For my trial she did half my face with traditional foundation and half with airbrush. The airbrush did hold up better for me but I'm just worried about what happens when it gets wet since I thought it was supposed to be more sweat proof. I would think that would mean tear proof too.

I read that once, but I did not at all find that was the case for me. It lasted all day. I didn't bawl, granted, but a few tears here or there, rain, and heat, and I was good.

Another thing I heard about airbrush was that it settles too much in your "fine lines". . . so, I brought this up to my MUA. Her response was that it happens when the MUA doesn't know what they are doing.

My guess is that the running is probably the same kind of thing-- if they apply with the nozzle too close to your face, then the layers could go on thick and not really dry/set properly, allowing that kind of thing to happen. As long as you have someone who knows what they are doing, I don't think this will be an issue.

I had airbrush makeup and it lasted all day in the heat of Hawaii. I highly recommend it (as long as it's a good MUA).

Airbrush makeup is great and does last all day, but it also just depends on the makeup artist. Any makeup whether it be airbrush or regular foundation can last all day if it is set correctly. Another thing to factor in is your skin. If your skin is more oily it tends to crease easier, so then it is best to have a setting powder ready for a quick touch up.

I have had airbrush makeup and I absolutely love it. Not only does it make you look flawless, it lasts all day. However, I haven't cried when I have the airbrush on so I can't help you there. I am guessing as long as you are not bawling tears then you should be fine. You can also ask your MUA to let you know which powders will work for touch ups.

It was great. Stayed on looking fresh for 17+ hours. And I cried all the way up the aisle.

To be honest, it really does depend on the person. I have had some brides who hated it because they didnt feel it sat well on their skin and I have had other brides who loved it! It shouln't sit in fine lines any more than a normal foundation if it is applied properly and not too "caked on". My suggestion would be when you go for your trial, to have half the face done with airbrush and half with a regular foundation and see how it wears. That way you're actually seeing how it sets on your skin since like I said, everyone wears makeup differently Smiley smile

Not true with airbrush, I cried while my makeup was being applied on my eyes and it was fine. That's really only the case if they do too dark of a shade I'm guessing (similar effect to what would happen with powder bronzer as well).

@Sen, that is what I had done for my trial as I said above. I did like the airbrush better, but of course I wasn't crying at home to try this part out Smiley smile.
