Airbrush Makeup!?!

CPeterson, on November 5, 2009 at 12:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

I'm having my make-up professionally done and she does the airbrush makeup. Apparently she is very good and has done the news anchors on our local news and Michelle Obamas when they were in Minneapolis! I have never had my make-up professionally done and have never known anyone who has had thier make-up airbrushed. Has anyone ever had this done or known someone who has, and how do you do touch ups during the night? I've seen her do it and it looks awsome but I'm worried about later in the evening. My make up will be done at about 8am, wedding is from noon-3 and reception from 5-midnight, I'd hate to have my make-up look bad by the time we get to the reception.

My sister did airbrush make up for her wedding and never needed a touch up. I'm definitely looking into a makeup artist who does airbrush make up as well. So far I have heard nothing but good things about the quality of the make up and how long it lasts.

I've heard that the airbrush make up looks really really good in pictures. Makes the skin look flawless. But other than that I don't have any idea on how long it lasts and how it looks in person. It seems like I've heard it looks better in pics than in person but I don't recall where I'd heard it from!

Any vendors on here have any info to share on this???

I hope it looks good in person especially towards the end of the night, the pictures I'm not to worried about because my photographer can always soften them up and do touch ups if necessary, but I'd hate to look like I was wearing a mask!!

From what I remember from my sister wedding, the makeup looks completely natural and blends in very well. I also guess, it depends on the makeup artist and how much they know about applying it.

Very true, this lady has been doing it for a long time. She does a lot of weddings and proms. I love the fake eyelashes she puts on! They make your eyes pop and they don't really look fake. And for $75 I'd say it's worth it not having to worry about that like MEG said!

A lot of the brides I've shot do airbrush makeup, and it lasts all day. That's why they have it done. It does look great for pictures. I also love it when the brides get the false eyelashes. Makes their eyes look awesome in pics!

I'd say have her do a trial run (maybe the day off your Bridal shower or Bach party). They you can see how it looks and feels and get everyone's opinion. You'll also be able to see how long it lasts!

Yeah she wanted me to come in for a trial run which I will probably do for the bach party, but the thing that stinks is I get charged another $75 for the trial run! But at least I'll have the peace of mind that I won't have to worry about my makeup all night!

In aesthetics school a Hollywood pro came in and demo'd various types of makeup. The airbrushed looked beautiful, but the girl had a smooth complexion. I however have acne scars and pits, I asked if that would work for someone with my skin. She didn't answer and applied a liquid foundation on me. I'm guessing that was a no. Go for the trial run, it may be worth it in the end.

I don't know about airbrush makeup, but I wear Sally Hansen airbrush legs on occasion (like for my brothers wedding last June) and it does a great job. I love how flawless it makes my legs look, and it lasts for a couple days. I'm sure the makeup on your face wouldn't last that long, but I can see how it wouldn't need touched up throughout the day/night.

I would try one of your more expensive salons. The lady that is doing my make-up is out of one of the nicer salons and she rents a chair from them she doesn't actually work for the salon she's more self-employed.

Airbrush makeup is awesome. It looks great! When I was in a wedding we all got our makeup airbrushed....I loved it. For my wedding (May 2010), I will also be getting my makeup airbrushed. You look flawless.

I want to have this done as well. The only thing I am worried about is possible acne scarring. For some reason, I have started breaking out HORRIBLY! Like, the painful cystic acne (on my neck, not my face). I went to the dermatologist last week, and he has started me on all kinds of medication so hopefully I wont have any scarring and the airbrush will work.

When I chose my photographer, they both mentioned to me about using airbrushing. They say the skin doesn't look shiny, looks fresh all day long and doesn't require touch ups. I went ahead and booked a makeup artist that uses this because I want my skin to look as flawless as possible to ensure that the photographs look great as well Smiley smile

Here's ths scoop on Airbrush..it was originally invented for Hollywood...actors & models under hot lights. Airbrushed makeup has staying power...it is made to withstand a long day and heat. That is why I recommend it to all my brides. Your makeup will last the day without running or sliding off your face. It will also withstand heat if you are in a warm climate. Airbrushed makup can help cover acne. It will look wonderful in your photos. Here is a true story. I had a beuatiful bride get her makeup professionally done. Did not choose airbrush because of the extra cost. First, the brush the makeup artist used to apply foundation left miniscule brush marks...not easily seen by the naked eye, but by the unforgiving reality of digital cameras, it showed up quite nicely in the photos. I did edit it out, with aribrush it wouldn't have been necessary...and not all photogs would edit it out for you. It was the first day of 90 heat with the cocktail hour outside at 12:30pm. continue
