Airbrush or not?

Sherry, on March 29, 2018 at 7:32 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 56

Has anyone tried airbrush makeup? Like or dislike? I have heard it does not sweat off, and I am getting married in August and it will be HOT in NE! Need advice please.....

I used airbrush for both my engagement shoot and my makeup trial at my bridal shower. It's AMAZING. As someone who has very oily skin and sweats - they're not kidding. It lasts, AND, it does take make your skin all shiny and gross. AND if you're not someone who usually wears makeup (like me), it feels like you're wearing no makeup at all! I can't recommend it enough

I have been in 10 weddings and have been airbrushed 6 out of those 10 times. I can say that if you have a good makeup artist with good makeup that airbrush is amazing! 2 times out of 6 my airbrush makeup was horrific. I am not sure where the makeup artist went wrong or if it was the type of makeup they used, but it definitely did not last and I felt like it was a mess. If they offer a trial one, I would take them up on that offer.

I've used it for 2 weddings as a BM and swear by it! My skin normally gets very shiny but airbrush goes on in a nice light layer and with just a little setting powder or spray holds all day regardless of heat/ humidity/ dancing/ drinking

Haven't decided yet. I have very oily skin and I've read mixed reviews about both traditional and airbrush for oily skin. I have a makeup trial this weekend with airbrush and plan on doing another one for airbrush. I want to see the difference to really see which works best for my skin.

It depends on your skin type. Airbrush makeup is alcohol based so it is very drying to the skin. That’s great for oily skin because it lasts longer but looks terrible on dry skin. Talk to your makeup artist about it.

Let me know which you like better. I am thinking about having a couple trials done just to make sure it’s consistent in how it looks. It would be my luck the trial would be amazing and on my wedding day I would look bad.

I'll definitely keep you posted! Just noticed my typo. Traditional makeup trial is this weekend. I haven't scheduled an airbrush trial just yet.

This was exactly the post I was about to make, thank you! I'm getting married at the end of May, and after months thinking I was going to do my own makeup, I'm second guessing myself. I'm going to get a trial of airbrush makeup now, too, after reading this post. 💄 💕

Yesss. I initially didn't want it because I thought it would show off the bumps/old acne scars on my forehead but my MUA convinced me to try it for my trial (day of my engagement party) and it was amazing. It felt light, and the coverage was awesome. She used a silicone-based foundation. I had my engagement party and I woke up the next day after getting drunk and sweaty in the FL heat and it was still there and 9/10 flawless. I got it again for my wedding day and I absolutely loved it.

I'm really glad you asked this question, because I have been wondering the same thing! The artist I have booked uses airbrush makeup, and I was immediately nervous because I'm really weird about what I put on my skin. However, the comments about how long it lasts on oily skin have kind of changed my mind..sounds like it will be worth it!

I know how you feel! I will keep you posted after my first trial and let you know my opinion on it. From what I am reading it mostly depends on how good the make up artist is. So not sure what I will do if she doesn't do a good job with the trial.........

Following! I want to know how Sherry's trial turns out.

It seems no matter what I do with regular makeup I get shiny, so I wonder how I'd do with airbrush!

Sherry, I booked my airbrush trial. April 15! The artist said she could do half my face with airbrush and the other half with traditional. If the artist doing your trial hasn't suggested this yet and he/she does both, you may want to ask about this and give it a try. I wish I knew this could be done before I had my traditional trial done. The traditional trial went really well. After living with it on for 10 hours, I would make some color changes (which the artist said could definitely be done), but it came out great and the makeup stayed put and I never got very oily. I'll keep you posted on my trial.

Excited to hear how it goes! I am going to call on Monday to see if they can do a half airbrush and half traditional. Great idea!

My make-up artist told me its not the best for dark skin tones so I am taking her suggestion and not using airbrush, its what I hired her for.
