Airbrush vs. Liquid Foundation

Katie, on November 17, 2018 at 11:00 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
I'm looking into makeup for my wedding in June! What is the difference between airbrush foundation and liquid foundation? What did you have and how did you like it?

Airbrush foundation is supposed to cover more imperfections and last longer with a smoother finish, while liquid doesn't provide as much coverage. Honestly though, I like liquid better! I thought I'd love airbrush from what I'd read and heard about it, but I thought it was just way too heavy for my face. I rarely wear makeup, so it doesn't help that I'm not used to it! I'd highly recommend a trial with airbrush if you're considering it; I'm so glad I had my trial and already had my second with liquid foundation and other improvements.

I love airbrush. It provides great coverage but feels lightweight and not caked on. Plus it has great staying power and doesn't streak if you cry or sweat. If you have dry skin you will need to begin preparing your skin ahead of time (a month or more) by using good moisturizer because it dries out skin even more and can flake, etc. I have dry skin and at my trial my HMUA recommended Radha Rosehip Oil which worked wonders! I began using it in October after my trial and by my wedding in December my skin was very hydrated and had a radiant appearance.

Here are a few pics of me just as I had it applied and then later that evening - no touch ups!

I’m going to be using airbrush for my June wedding. It is better for all day coverage my HMU told me. It feels so light weight as well. I had one trial and really liked it

For my complexion only liquid will do. I dont have alot of imperfections but still to me liquid covered my face better than i have seen airbrush do. I have noticed that airbrush looks much more natural. Like ur not wearing anything. So really I think it depends on the look ur going for.

Oh and as far as lasting all day, when I had my trial my makeup lasted 8hrs with liquid and was very light. I felt like I had nothing on but I most certainty did. If ur MUA is good ur makeup will last.

I’ve heard that airbrush makeup is kind of high maintenance, that you can’t touch your face or it’ll leave imprints. The makeup artist I booked doesn’t use it, which I’m kind of glad for because regular foundation should work just fine and I won’t have to worry about experimenting with airbrush which seems to work great for some people and horribly for others.

I'm not a fan of airbrush. I've had it done twice by two different artists (both well reviewed). I have dry, uneven skin with acne scarring. It clung to the dry skin around my nose and didn't go away even when the girl sprayed lotion over it. I also don't like the feeling or smell of it being sprayed. It didn't look good on me. But on the MOH who had really great skin, I thought it looked great. I didn't notice it staying on any longer or looking any better than conventional makeup.

I have fairly large pores and combo/oily skin. Airbrush does not look good on me at all. It tends to settle in the pores and look terrible. I would do regular liquid foundation over airbrush any day!
