Airline Discounts ? ?

ashlee, on February 14, 2011 at 2:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I was wondering if any of you have looked into or negotiated a discount with any airlines for your guests to utilize?

Appreciate any of your experiences!

thank you

I haven't but I have seen on some airlines websites something that says "group" you might want to check into that. I would imagine that they would do something. Good luck.

That can potentially be very trick (managing everyone's schedules, expectations, etc), I would get the help of a professional (i.e. travel agent).

Airlines only offer a 5% dicount on flights, most of them actually require 10 or more passengers on the same flights

It has to be alot of passengers on the SAME flight and they all have to book at the same time with the same credit card.

Most people will want to set their own schedule, use their own rewards program through their favorite airline, etc.

I think if you have a large group going, approach them and see if there is any interest.

Thank you all!! my initial research indicated pretty much what you have confirmed.

Most do the group discount for tickets on the same flight (more like for a tour group)... although i did have one friend who somehow finagled a discount code for his guests to use. it wasn't much of a discount in reality, but the idea that people were getting a 'deal' seemed to calm some of the "You're having a wedding WHERE??" hysteria. ;o)

They don't have to be on the same flight ... i got 5% off American Airlines just make sure you select various locations to the same destinations option.

That is 💯 not true. You get a group code and it goes on their own booking. It does need to be majority (but not all) the same from city and must be same to city. You also get a block of dates so doesn’t have to be exact dates.
