Aisle decoration problem...Please Help

Sarah L., on July 12, 2011 at 7:53 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

Originally I was going to have my florist make bows in our colors for the pews and that was going to be the only aisle decorations I will have. For the reserved aisles she was going to add flowers to the bows that were to go on those pews. When I was at church last weekend I realized that the pews have no end caps (not sure if that's the right word). There is no way to attach a bow to the pews except to tape them on there and I'm afraid if I do that they won't stay or I will spend a while trying to get the tape off the pews. I need a cheap yet elegant way to decorate the aisle. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Try these from saveoncrafts.com

They are little clips that hook onto the chair/pew

Can you find a picture online that is similar to your pews? Are they something similar to this?

What do you mean by no end caps?

There are clips, or use floral wire.

But if nothing else, major kudos go to you for spelling aisle correctly!

    @crew2 - I don't have a picture but that its exactly it

@Savana - I thought about that but I would have to hook those on the back of the pew so how would it be seen in the aisle and not on the back of the pew?

@ Meghan B. - if you look at the pic Crew2 c. posted that is what the pews look like so clips and floral wire won't work and thanks on the spelling comment...lol

The clips would work if you don't mind seeing them on the back. Or you can always use a tulle stand (shepherds hook with a base) and then tie them to that. Or you can get a bucket or vase, put Styrofoam in the bottom, shove in a shepherds hook, cover the top of the foam with flower petals, rocks, or whatever. The reason I mention this idea is because you can probably find cheap shepherds hooks at dollar tree or somewhere else being that its the end of the summer season for retailers. Also, you could just do a tall vase with tall flowers or decorations.

Here is a link to some tulle stands http://www.save-on-crafts.com/wrhablgoclea.html

I didn't think about putting them in a bucket. Thanks! I will price it out and see if I can do that. I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and they were sold out but I will look around.

Could you put the clips on the pews facing horizontally, not vertically? You'd still be able to see them a bit, but not too much. You could even use some tulle to cover them up.

Otherwise, I think you may want to just put things on the floor with some height...

Can you look at pictures of your chapel set up for other weddings? If so, you may be able to get some ideas.

@ Meghan - My church doesn't have pictures of other wedding that have been held there. I would have to find someone who has been married there and ask them what they did. Father is new to our church and we will be his first wedding at this church so I'm not sure how much help he would be for suggestions either.

My advice is to buy shepard hooks. They stand on their own and you can hang your bows from them

@ Sabrina - Those are adorable!

@Rabbit D. - That is a great idea. I will ask Father about using those. Hopefully he will allow me to try it Smiley smile
