Aisle runner for an outdoor ceremony, yes or no?

Terrah, on February 23, 2014 at 1:13 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

I like the look of some of the aisle runners that are available, but I don't want to look like a total fool if the ground is soft by poking holes in it as I walk down. I'm wearing flats, but I am a plus sized girl, so I'm leary... Anyone have any suggestions? It's on a grassy area behind the beach at a lake. I had thought that a sand-type color would look phoenominal, but as I said, I don't want to ruin it as I walk down it. Are there more durable ones I could look at? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would skip it. Most aisle runners are a tripping hazard on a solid surface so on grass...may not be the best of ideas. On the otherhand b/c my ceremony is outside, I haven't really looked very close at the options.

If the ground is soft I'm sure everyone walking down the aisle will make some "dents" in the runner it wouldn't be just you! I personally think runners make it feel more like a wedding and complete the look ..maybe there is something you can lay down under the runner that's a little bit sturdier if you're concerned?

I had an outdoor wedding and didn't use a runner.. I'd heard too many horror stories of people tripping on them because they don't stay flat with people walking down them..

I'm not having one. I bought shepherd hooks with flowers to hang. That's the extent of it.

I'm doing one for my outdoor wedding. It's burlap though, so it's going to grab onto different bumps in the ground.

Skip it and do petal and shepherds hooks. Don't forget to NOT do stilettos!

We are having an outdoor wedding as well in our front yard; Im doing shepherds hooks with mason jars and flowers. I was thinking of doing an aisle runner as well but I was going to stake it down some how. I'm wearing wedges to avoid sinking.

I'd agree with Danielle, burlap would be a good choice!
