Aisle Runner for Beach Wedding

Meg, on June 14, 2016 at 10:48 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19

Hi - My wedding is in a little over 2 weeks away and I am starting to panic about how to walk down the aisle. I REALLY want to wear my heels, but know I can't walk in them in the sand. What have you used to walk in heels down the aisle for a beach wedding? Help!

As a beach goer, I don't think this is actually possible. It sounds terribly uncomfortable.

I know. So sad. Any ideas on what I can use as an aisle runner that will work?

Please don't try to put a runner on sand. You'll poke through it, and it'll be worse than bare feet. How about those barefoot sandal things, then change back into heels for the reception.

Heels on the beach doesn't sound like it would work. Are you having your reception on the beach, too? If not, could you just wear your heels at your reception?

The reception is not on the beach. Okay, you are right. I might just have to do the sandal thing and change into my heels. Just curious if anyone has used anything that I wasn't aware of to walk on the sand with heels...such as the bamboo aisle runners, etc...

Yeah, I agree with pp, sand and heels don't mix, and I think any aisle runner would be a complete disaster! Tripping, poking holes or in the case of bamboo, breaking it, etc.

I am doing bare foot sandals for the ceremony and changing to heels for the reception

Rather than an actual runner, you could make something like this!

I'm likely going barefoot during the beach ceremony. I'll put shoes on after but probably flats. My feet won't be seen under my dress so I'm going for comfort.

Wear flat sandals. I don't vote barefoot because what if you step on glass or a rock or a sharp shell?

Just wear your heels later for the reception and other pictures. You've gotten great advice on why not to use an aisle runner

    I officiate many beach weddings.

The light-weight paper runners don't work in the sand (or on grass, gravel, thick carpet, or slippery floors).

A bamboo runner also would not work.

I have seen real carpet runners, but they look rather silly outdoors.

Our public beach now has a metal grid runner, but I think they use it for wheelchairs.

Wear some sparkly sandals for the ceremony and then change into your heels when you get to solid land/reception.

I'm going barefoot for the ceremony and switching to my flip flops after. No one will see under my dress anyway. I can't imagine trying to keep a runner down on a windy beach or keeping sand from being all over it

No type of runner is going to work on sand- your heels will poke through. I wore flat sparkly sandals for my wedding because hot sand.

The wooden aisle is a possibility, but I was quoted $1200:-(

Even a wooden aisle is difficult because you would have to be cautious of were you stepped that you do not get a heel caught in between planks.

I would forego the heels. It's hard enough to walk gracefully in the sand, so add in heels and that will be a nightmare. Just wear them to your reception like PP's suggested.
