Aisle runner ideas?

Renay, on October 4, 2019 at 11:33 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
We are planning an outdoor ceremony (4/25/20 in Central IL so the weather could send us inside), and the ground is dusty not really grassy, especially that time of year. My dress has a wide train, and I am worried about getting my dress all messy. Anyone have a suggestion for what to use as an aisle runner? I looked into buying an extra wide runner but they were super expensive, and I am only going to use it for the 30 min ceremony so I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. My mom suggested rolling out some of the green "indoor/outdoor" grass carpet, and then putting down the aisle runner. Am I the only one who thinks that would look tacky? I thought about buying a bolt of fabric, but I didn't know what kind would be good.

What about cement pavers? You can paint them, stager them, and if you’re a crafty couple you can make your own.

if you did a grass runner and everything else is dusty, it will look odd in my opinion.

    Hey Renay!

Have you checked out Amazon for wide aisle runners? You may be able to find something that is more within your budget.

There are plenty of DIY aisle options, depending on how crafty you are!

I went to Pinterest to get some images of what you could think about doing. First, you could create your own wooden flooring aisle if you would be able to get access to planks of wood and fit them together.

You could also look into getting burlap for your aisle runner. As it's not a traditional 'aisle runner' you may be able to find some for a good price. It can be decorated really easily with flower petals or candles so it would definitely have a 'wedding' look what you have it laid out.

My last suggestion is my personal favorite! Have you ever seen old household rugs used as an aisle runner? I think it has such a cool, boho look to it and would look amazing on the dusty ground that you mentioned. You could start looking at thrift stores and flea markets to get cheap ones that look amazing together.

I'm getting marry on the sand and will not do a runner. I heard so many brides have tripped or the runner bunched up and I'm so scare of falling or my dad tripping that I decided not to have one. I like the idea of cement pavers, they will definitely not bunch up Smiley smile Good luck sweet bride!
