Aisle runner in a church?

We did not have one. Honestly, they just seemed like more of a pain than they are worth. You have to avoid having the guests walking on them, which means you have to block off the aisle, and have your guests go the long way around to get seated. They often get kicked, and end up wrinkled and/or dirty. And once you are walking down that aisle, no one is looking at the floor.

We had a pew bow on the end of each aisle, and left it at that.

We decided against a runner.... I wanted on at first, but after some research, I decided on not to get one. They are nice, but a wate to me

I think that aisle runners can be nice looking but we opted not to get one to conserve money in the budget. We also got hitched in the courtyard vs. a church. I've seen lots of ways to mark the aisle that are cute (and some expensive!) What kind of floor does the church you are getting married in have? Tile, Carpet?

It has a bright green carpet going down the aisle. The church is relatively new (2006) so the carpet is in good condition. I was just hesitant to get one of those cheap ones. I've found them for like $25 on Amazon, but it's not real cloth.

This site has aisle runners that look like beds of flower petals! So pretty but kinda pricy! http://www.petalhappy.com/ They also have little runners for just the edges of the aisle if you wanted to do that instead of the whole aisle.

Oh, I should note that we are having hydrangea pew markers, like these.

I've seen cool looking pew decorations that have candles in them, but with carpet, candles may not be allowed. This pic shows paper lanterns to decorate the pew on the aisle, another thought if you opt against an aisle runner but still want to jazz up the aisle...

Our florist is charging us $50 for one, and it's a good quality fabric one (not plastic or a felt that will get stuck on your heels or make you trip). I mostly wanted it because I HATE when my heels click on hard floors and I'm already nervous enough that everyone will be staring at me, haha.

How long to you need? I found mine for $8.99 for 50 feet. And then a little more for like 100 feet. Saveoncrafts.com

Oops! should have refreshed before posting the pew decorations! I see you already have them! And they are great by the way! I love hydrangeas! Personally I think you could do without the aisle runner because you've already got the pew flowers. Unless of course you are itchin' to DIY one, then I say go for it!

(and yes, yikes is right! They are really cool looking but awful expensive!)

Here are my thoughts: My sister had an aisle runner and honestly I loved the way it looked. I think it added class and made the tan carpet not so.. Blah. BUT she tripped. Not a big fall, but it was something I noticed lol To keep people from walking it on beforehand, she had two of her ushers roll it out right before she walked down the aisle.. I thought that looked so nice, like she was royalty But then I saw that there were lots of wrinkles in it, and a lot of ways to trip because of the wrinkles. That's my big fear, so I'm not having one. If you aren't clumsy like my sister and I, it might be a good idea

Ya i am not sure yet or not if I will have one..I think too it really depends on the carpet..if you have like a bright red aisle, or something that you don't like, or there are stains then maybe..but realy like what was mentioned above, everyone will be looking at you, not the floor :-)

Actually, my dad is the one I'd be worried about tripping...he had a stroke a few years ago, and walking isn't his forte. I found a really nice one for about $150 that says it won't bunch up/wrinkle like. It has something on the back of it.

Have you checked with your church? Ours would not allow runners or petals in the aisle.

There was a really nice DIY article for a nice runner in a magazine I saw at Michaels. It was a plain inexpensive runner that they created a large decorative medalion on. It was very nice! I'll attach a pic of the magazine cover if you want to look for it to see the article.

Also, proper etiquette requires the runner to be unfurled right before you enter - it's a bride's personal cat walk

You can get inexpensive green silk hydreangeas, remove the florets and glue them on the back (or front) side. They inexpensive runners are a bit transparaent so the color and shape would show through nicely.

Jessica, yes they allow runners. And only the freeze dried petals.

I am glad to see this post because I have been going back and forth on it. I am clumsy like kk's sister (and wearing super high heels to boot) so now I am really having second thoughts. Thanks for bringing this up!

FH said he doesn't want to spend a lot on it. I feel like the cheap ones won't look good. The nicer ones are around $150....so we'll see.

I am DIYing my own monogram/quote & didn't like the "interfacing feel" of all the usual aisle runners.I felt it would be too thin to trace/paint,let alone roll up to store it.JMHO! So,I went to Hobby Lobby & ordered 34 yards of Roc-Lon bleached muslin.With their coupon,total it was $30.00,only about $10 or15 more than the cheaper Michaels runner would have cost me.Felt like it was well worth the price.In my search,I did find that Joanns only had bolts up to 25 yards & our Cincinnati stores wouldn't order any more yards in a higher amounts,buuut,Hobby Lobby was VERY willing to order it! Now,my mom & I are trying to convince my dad (LOL!!!) to have it rolled out & displayed before the ceremony even starts,that way,the ushers won't have to struggle with the wrinkles,etc.Also,no wrinkles would make better wedding photos from the balcony.I want to rope off the back pews & just have guests enter from the sides.The only ones to walk on it would be the
