Aisle Runner or no aisle runner???

MrsSchultz, on July 2, 2014 at 6:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I can't decide if I want to have an aisle runner. We are getting married inside a hotel.

I was just wondering if anybody is using an aisle runner or has used one and what the cons are? or if you didn't use an aisle runner what made you turn away from having one?

Eh, I see them as an extra expense. Not to mention something else to put down, something else to pick up, and mostly, something else to trip over when you're making the most important walk in your life.

I'd skip it unless you're really attached to the idea.

I've seen them get caught/snagged on the rope you use to lay it out an a lot of weddings. It's an awkward moment for whoever has to lay it down and it creates a weird break in the processional. I won't be using one.

Just make sure you check with your venue. We're getting married at a Church and we were told if we want an aisle runner we have to pay for the insurance for it, which is about as much as our wedding. So no aise runners.

We're not allowed to use an aisle runner at our church. I'm not too heartbroken over skipping it.

We're skipping it. I'm keeping the decor at the church to a minimum. It's old and rustic and I love it just the way it is.

Anyone have any thoughts on aisle runners for outdoor weddings? My venue told me most brides don't bother with it but the wedding dress store said it's "mandatory" or my dress will get grass stains. I guess I better get one in case... But weird that the venue lady said lots of girls don't... Maybe their dresses had shorter or no trains??

I don't like the look of them. We are lining the aisle with rose petals.

I wouldn't it...most runners aren't made of the best quality material, and its not very heavy so you end up increasing your chances of tripping, especially if the floor of your ceremony is a slick surface such as tile or wood, and they don't end up holding up to the heels on your shoes, snagging and just looking jagged. Its an unnecessary expense

What does the flooring at the hotel look like, and are you OK with it? If you don't mind it then no need for a runner. If it bugs you and you don't want the look of it in your photos, then get a runner!

I don't think I've been to a single wedding where the aisle runner came out smoothly and without problems. Just one more thing to worry about! Smiley smile
