Aisle runner questions

Aidan (Mrs. Cowgell!), on November 26, 2011 at 8:15 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Our location is outside, with gravel paths. The area that we want to have the wedding in is kind of a work in progress right now, so while we can hope they will use something besides gravel, that's doubtful. That said, I want to make sure we have a good, sturdy aisle runner that the gravel can't tear to shreds. I tried googling outdoor aisle runners and didn't seem to get much of anything useful. If anyone knows of a good place to get something like this, or has ideas for a DIY version, that would be awesome!

    I know this might not be much help, but I did find a few ideas..

    The first one is gorgeous, but may be expensive.

    The second is what I am going to do. I'm going to link flowers together and run them along the sides of the seating area.

    The third is the only pic I found with an aisle runner on gravel, sadly, I couldn't find out what the fabric was. (I think it was a rug of some sort).

    The lace one is gorgeous, but that looks like the material I had found on another site, and they compared it to the white material they put on box springs, and that stuff doesn't seem sturdy to me.

    @Devyn R

    That first one is stunning, but I need something a bit more able to protect dresses and such, lol. I hadn't thought of just using carpet...perhaps. Ooh, or maybe just using a strip of industrial carpet as a backing for a prettier one. Hmm....

    I'm glad to have helped. I really didn't think what I found could have been useful. But I do like the carpeting idea. I think it will give you the support you're looking for, and it probably wont rip or tear. lol

    And make heels less likely to sink in if the ground is damp. My cousin had that problem at her wedding and all they could do for her was put out bricks for the guests to step on!

    @Mrs.Reid

    Looking around on that site you gave me, and they have some great stuff! Their runners may not be what I need, but I think they may be helpful in my hunt for other things!

    I don't think you want that problem at your wedding! That must've been a hassle.. for everyone.

    Don't do a runner; do petals.

    @Devyn R.

    It was! I did one of the readings and my heels kept sinking when I was walking up to do that. I can't imagine how she made it up the aisle in heels.

    @Celia Milton

    I would, but I need a protective surface. Dresses+heels+potentially wet gravel = bad

    I saw an aisle runner that was made out of moss I believe or grass. Google it and you will probably find it.
