Aisle runners for outdoor wedding?

Kellie, on March 19, 2017 at 12:27 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I like the look of having an aisle runner for an outdoors wedding. But would the guest even care? Is this an expense that I can skip?

We are doing one. I'm spending too much money on a dress and I dont want the bottom to be covered in grass stains.

I am getting married on a beach and will not be having an aisle runner. I like the the look of them, but it was a $1500 upgrade at my venue!

@cabobride. Wow that's expensive. Congrats on Cabo btw, it's beautiful.

@Kelli I think this is totally an expense you can skip if you want to. If not, and an isle runner is too expensive what about covering the isle is silk rose petals? I wouldn't go with real just as to not get the color on your dress

You can totally skip it. Went to an outdoor wedding and it was windy that day. So the runner kept blowing. They lined portions of it with rocks. I know several guests who ended up tripping or kicking the rocks.

If you do go for it and your on grass I would recommend in ground stakes to hold it down.

Indoor aisle runners are a trip waiting to happen. Outdoors it's guaranteed. Heels, fabric and soft ground don't play well together. Don't invest time and money on something designed to be stepped on and thrown away. Flower petals down each side of the aisle are a nice touch. More and more I see brides not putting anything on the floor or ground at all and everything still looks great. Best wishes!

Go for it if it fits your budget and you have a way to either keep it secure or keep yourself from tripping on it

Skip it. There is virtually no aisle runner that will be safe. Petals are good.

They are just a hassle, slightly dangerous and it will get dirty before you even walk down it.

No worries about the heels as I will not be wearing any (I can not for the life of me walk in heels)

But thanks for all the advice. Definitely leaning towards skipping it

That is up to you. Guests don't care. I'm having an outdoor wedding and I'm not having a runner.
