Aisle Runners

Patti, on June 22, 2010 at 3:59 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Well, my priest just gave me helpful info on aisle runners, he said don't go for cheap get something durable as a aisle runner. Because alot of girls get caught with their heels in a cheap runner. Well, I began to price some, you can't believe how much a good one costs, anywhere from $325. to $450. Does anyone what suggestions?

Are you having your wedding in a church? I am not getting an aisle runner because the church we are using has gorgeous red carpet down the aisle...its always an option to not use one if the church has a beautiful floor for the aisle. Hope this helps! Smiley smile

Also check out your rent shops, most of them have GOOD ones that you can rent. You may have to look the type of runners they have online to make sure they are top quality but renting is cheaper than buying.

I ordered mine from this website, very good fabric runner lots of colors to choose. Mine is cherry red. http://tableclothworld.net/servlet/Categories?category=Aisle Runners The pic below is just color swatches not the same fabric used to make the runners, the fabric they are made of is pretty much like a tablecloth and is washable.

I purchased a bolt of bleached muslin fabric from joann's and added my monogram. This worked well for me b/c I didn't have a flower girl so my runner was simply layed out when we decorated. If you are going to have someone roll it out during the ceremony then you need to be concerned about the roll/rope so this may not be the best option for you. Plus the aisle at the church was 60 inches wide and 60 ft long so I wanted a wider runner than is standard. The fabric i purchased was 52 inches wide I believe. It cost around $30.

Here is a picture of my runner. I didn't have any problems with my heels and we didn't even tape it. I even had my girls walk on it during rehearsal to see how it was going to hold up lol!

Ditto to what ^ said. Mine is 44 inches wide and 80 feet long, but also cost about $30 with a coupon.

A friend of mine had a bad experience with one bought at some craft store. It was paper-like...

Yeah I bought one from Michael's and as soon as I opened it I knew it was going right back to the store. You could see right thru it.

We aren't doing an aisle runner because my pastor said she's seen way too many people get tangled up in them and they are difficult to lay out correctly. It's all up to you though. Talk to your minister and ask what other people have done that have gotten married in your church.

I decided not to do do one when one of my friends pointed out to me that it sort of blends in with the dress and without one the dress really just pops. I had never thought about it and when I started looking at pictures I just had to agree. So I saved the $$$. Just food for thought!

They're gorgeous, but I've had one too many brides trip on them, so it's the only thing I ban from the weddings I do! Like, literally, the only thing - you haven't heard shrieks of horror until a bride almost falls flat on her face walking down the aisle! It's the material, it gets caught on your heel no matter how firmly it's affixed to the ground. Just my experience. It could just be me...maybe I'm cursed?

I'm not having a runner either, we're on a tight budget so it was either wedding favors, or an isle runner...so instead of a piece of fabric I walk on once...I decided against it.

Anyone have ideas on how to tack the runner down so it doesn't move around? I am having an outdoor wedding and thought a runner would add to the decor, but want it secured!
