Aisle vs Isle

Thank you it's one of my biggest pet peeves when I see people post "isle" on here!

Thank you thank you thank you. Can you tell it's a pet peeve of mine.

I just think to myself: Their wedding is on an island. That's nice!

That makes me insane, but then all of that stuff does......I'm a writer, it's (correct word, lol) an occupational hazard....

This is one of those things that makes me twitch.

Two silent letters must be one too many. Waiting for the day that someone spells it ile. Ha.

Haha, I'm a teacher so certain things drive me insane too!! But, I was at a professional workshop this past week and they joked that as much as it kills us, we shouldn't correct people. And they put up this picture. Sometimes I just can't help it!!

Many of my couples walk down an aisle on a isle, but there are a lot of islands/keys here.

The mine's entrance is blocked. Not to be used in place of my or mine (possessive).

So, teachers are being encouraged not to teach. That makes sense.

No, they joked about it in the context of correcting our friends....

I'd correct people every time. If my grammatical fly is down, I want someone to tell me.

Right? We tell them that hosting their own shower isn't appropriate. Why let them continue to talk about walking down the isle? Unless, of course, they are one of Nancy's brides and they are actually walking down the isle's aisle.

Thank you!! That drives me nuts, too!! I always think, "oh, how nice, they're going to be walking down an island. I hope the island isn't too big, or they're going to be really tired", when I see that someone is walking down the "isle"...LOL!!

I understand mistyping as I do it sometimes (typing on my iPad is not that great) but mistakes like that make my inner school teacher cringe. Also, if I had a quarter for every post I see on the fb group of brides trying to sell their "toole" dresses...

There was that one post like a week ago where the OP actually spelled aisle right. I congratulated her because it's a rare occurance here.
