Alaskan Cruise Honeymoon

Kaitlynn, on December 27, 2017 at 9:56 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

So, my FH and I are realllllyy wanting to go on an Alaskan Cruise in early May of 2019 as our honeymoon, but everything I've looked at so far seems crazy expensive. Has anyone done an AK cruise? What cruise line did you use, and did anyone find good deals to make it more affordable? Thanks ladies!

My sister and her husband did an Alaskan cruise for their honeymoon (10 year ago). My sister told me it was completely worth the money and a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was 10 years ago and prices have changed but she said she would definitely do it again. I know cruise have food included which is great in my opinion.

We did a round trip cruise from Vancouver with Holland America and it was great. The sight and sound of the glaciers calving was amazing.

It's a bit early yet for bargains but check out www.vacationstogo.com

Prices will come down at various times between now and then.

This the the honeymoon we're planning too for summer 2019. I know it's going to be expensive the a lot of other vacations I would normally take but it's our honeymoon which is once in a lifetime just like this trip. When I started looking, just on Carnival so far, it seemed that August and September were cheaper if you can do it then instead of May.

I went on an Alaskan cruise on Princess in June 2014 and the interior stateroom was $1518 CAD (so $759 per person), not including flights and excursions.

My FH are thinking of doing an Alaskan cruise too! We are getting married in May 2018 but we started looking at Carnival cruise and it's $1500 a person for a balcony room and on board spending!

    1. Timing:

Spring will be fresher than the fall (September) cruises to Alaska. The stops/towns get really slushy, muddy as the summer goes on due to all the cruisers. In the spring, its fresher and there are still shoulder season deals before schools let out.

    2. Cruiseline:
Not sure if Carnival is up to a honeymoon level standard. Its mass market and low end. Holland America's average age cruiser is 70 years so a honeymoon will be the minority if thats what you want. Princess and Royal Caribbean are mid market cruise lines that do a good job in Alaska but if you can splurge Celebrity is really more of a luxury experience and worth the cost.

Advice: 'Wave season' is January - April when the cruise lines offer their strongest deals of the year so prepare to shop then. Given you are booking so far out and anything can happen to cause a cancellation or adjustment, make sure you get travel insurance. GENERALI Travel Insurance is our preferred www.generalitravelinsurance.com website has affordable plans for cruises.
