So I shouldn’t know to much about my bridal shower but of course a couple maids slipped with some details and I was told that the bridal party is split between alchohol and no alcohol at the shower , they are having it at a nice restaurant and it cost much more money to have alcohol and majority of us don’t drink especially me , but some of the girls are saying it’s ettiquet to have alcohol ? I don’t mind either way , but if most feel it’s not necessary and the money can go to something else that’s fine with me. What does everyone else think do you feel it’s rude if we don’t serve it ?

Okay, I adjust my statement to say that I do not think a modified open bar is necessary. If I were invited, I'd expect to pay for my own alcohol. It would be great if it was free, but I wouldn't expect it. If aunt Susan wants to start drinking, she can do it on her own dime.

Yes absolutely no bringing your own alcohol . 2nd they provide mimosas at an additional cost of 350 that only will
provide 1 drink for 40 people any refills is an additional 350

Hm, I mean it's too late now but this is definitely something that should have been discussed when the location was booked. If it was me, I would definitely provide it.

Honestly, if I were in your shoes, my answer would be thusly:

"MOH, you and the other ladies do what you think is best. Having a bridal shower is not a requirement and I am honored that you want to throw me one. Since you are planning it, I will leave the details up to you and trust your judgement."

I wouldn't want to get in between any BMs. People can get touchy and think you are favoring one over the other for the weirdest reasons. Last thing I need is contention between my bridal party members with me in the middle of it.

It's not on you to plan the shower. So don't. Let them make the decision. Do I personally think some form or type of alcohol should be served? Sure. Am I going to make that call for a shower I shouldn't be planning? Not a chance.

If it was less then 40 people, like maybe 15 people, I'd probably do a consumption. I can agree with everyone that it would be nice to do that, but no way for 40.

Well I'm sorry you've only been to poorly hosted events that led you expect to pay for your own drinks. That's not how it's supposed to work.

I've noticed this is quite the trend on here. Anytime some mentions a reception the first words out of someone else's mouth mentions alcohol. I don't think that any hosted even has to have alcohol to be considered a good time.

See I've never been to a shower of any sort that served them. I couldn't even tell you what one was.

I'm also one who doesn't buy alcohol for parties or holidays I host either. No one in my family does actually and it's not that no one dribks. It's just we don't see the need for anything outside of water, soda or a punch.
