Alcohol Planning help

Samantha, on September 28, 2019 at 11:13 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 4
We have to supply the alcohol for our wedding. We are planning on doing beer/wine and 4 signature cocktails as well as a champagne toast. How did you guys figure out how much alcohol to buy and how to split it up between everything!!

I use a chart I found on pinterest. It using the equation 2 drinks and hour times the number of guest.
For example 2 x 15 guest would be 30 drinks an hour
And then you multiply 30 drinks an hour by the number of hours the event is

My wedding is November 14, 2020. I know we have some time, but we have to supply the alcohol as well. We’re calculating how much to buy and what’s a price point we shouldn’t exceed. How did you both narrow down your signature drinks? We’re also buying sodas and waters for those who don’t drink alcohol and Ofcourse doing a champagne toast towards the end of the night.
We calculated the same way^ on average a guest may drink 2-3 an hour and from the reception to the end of night , we’d multiply that by 6. ( it’s always better to have a little more than run out)

We will also be supplying drinks for those who don't want/can't have alcohol. We figured out our signature drinks to try to make sure we had a good balance of choices. My fiance's favorite alcohol is whiskey so we are doing a whiskey mixed drink. I really like rum so we will have a cocktail made with rum. My mother really wanted us to offer margaritas and since she is paying we will be offering that as well. My fiance and I were offered a mango drink made with vodka at an open house that we both thought was really good so we will offering something similar. Essentially, we made our choices based on what we liked best but also offered choices to our guests.

    Hey Samantha Smiley smile

It’s always difficult to estimate how much alcohol is needed for a wedding.

I have gathered a bunch of useful previous community discussions on the topic which may help you -

Don’t forget to take into consideration your guests and whether or not they are big drinkers.

Another great tip is to buy some extra alcohol from a store that will accept returns on any open items! This can be your backup Smiley smile
