Alcohol

Arielle, on September 25, 2019 at 2:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 3 3
Hey all! Wedding days in two weeks!! My fiancé and I are supplying the alcohol for our wedding(open bar). How much alcohol/wine should we buy for 105 people? I’ve seen a few websites with the alcohol calculator but they all give me a different amount.

    The general rule is to assume 2 drinks per guest for cocktail hour, and 1 drink per guest each hour after until the end of the reception. So if you're having a four hour reception, that would be 5 drinks per person or 525 drinks total. This is the link I've used to help calculate further!

    Hi Arielle Smiley smile

    Estimating the amount of alcohol you need to purchase can always be a little tricky!

    One important thing to take into consideration is your guests and whether or not they are big drinkers.

    I have gathered a bunch of useful previous community discussions on the topic which may help you -

    A great tip is to buy some extra alcohol from a store that will accept returns on any open items! This could be your backup reserve in case you need more on the day!

    We are providing our own alcohol and here is the exact list our bartending company suggested:

    Here are my suggested amounts for the average crowd of 100, open bar for approx 5 hours:
    Bottled/Canned Beer = 6 cases total (1 case = 24 beers) I would get 3 different flavors at the most, 2 cases of each.
    Wine = 3 cases total (1 case = 12 regular 750mL bottles OR 6 magnum 1.5L bottles) I would get 1.5 cases white wine, 1.5 cases red wine.
    Liquor = 2 handles (1.75L bottle) of each: vodka, gin, whiskey, rum + 1 (1L) bottle of vodka & whiskey as backup. (NOTE: Bottles that are not opened can typically be returned.)
    Champagne = 1 case (12 bottles)
    Now you need to know your crowd. We lowered wine amounts and upped beer amounts because we have a lot more beer drinkers than wine. We also got white claws because its the new fad and half our people love them as well lol.
