Alfred Angelo Closing? UPDATED - THEY ARE CLOSED!

CountingDowntoMrs, on July 13, 2017 at 12:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 161

Maybe I've been under a rock and this is old news or not true, but there's a post on a local FB page that all AA locations are closing today.

Anyone know if this is correct?

The post also says in-store items are up to 80% off.

Update in comments.

I just posted in another person's thread about Alfred Angelo. When we went BM dress shopping 2 weeks ago, the consultant advised we had to purchase our BM dresses that day, otherwise we would have to do it online. It sounds like she just found out from corporate but didn't know what was going on. Sounds like they weren't communicating with the stores. She thought that maybe they would be turning the stores into off the rack type of a store, but she wasn't sure.

I did read that they are no longer providing in store alterations - not sure about them completely closing down though.

They cancelled my alterations appointment. But didn't say that they were closing. Luckily all of the dresses are purchased and in hand.

I heard that years ago, from a "very reliable source." Maybe they were just trying to re-organize, at the time? With the amount of people doing online shopping, overseas "replica" shops, and gown rental companies, I'm guessing that this trend with continue.

I had my final dress fitting there last week and the store was in shambles, manager seemed about ready to tear her hair out! She said they weren't closing, but changing their dynamic in the store. She said they are no longer doing custom orders and receiving a ton of inventory so now you can only buy off the rack. Seems super strange, but the bright side is they were trying to get rid of a ton of stuff so I got my jewelry for 50% off!

    I called multiple local stores.

I could only get one store to answer, and when I asked, she said, "I'm not sure if we're closing today or not; I'm just a sales associate."

I asked if accessories are on sale today because I was trying to decide whether to come in, and she said, "You probably should if you want to see them. They're 50% off today."

So, I'm suspecting yes to closing their doors.

2 weeks ago they decided to just do off the rack in physical store locations. You can go in and try on and be measured...and they give you a link to order dresses online. Was told that this may or may not be permanent. They have been researching and found that 70% of customers buy off rack.

@Daniella - sounds like that may have been a cover-up for the real story to keep current brides from panicking. Interested to see what happens.

All of my wedding groups are on fire right now. Employees from MA stores are commenting saying that all dresses have to be picked up by 8PM tonight or else they ship them back. No refunds are being given either because they declared bankruptcy.

Whatever they're doing, they're handling it badly!

Hi guys--just joined so I could add that I just got a call from the bridal shop I ordered a bridesmaid dress from, saying that AA is "closing" and they'll refund our dress orders. The girl sounded totally flustered, like this was a shock to her too. She said AA suddenly just stopped answering calls.

The bad news is that we now have 2.5 months to find a bridesmaid gown.

@Kelly A. - get those refunds done today!!

Azazie! Better dresses, honestly. We tried several shops, including AA, and Azazie won, hands down. See if they can rush ship! You can order based on custom measurements too; some of my girls did that...no alterations required after they came in!

They incorrectly measured all six of my girls. They told me no exchanges or refunds and now they are not answering any of the phones. So of course now I'm furious. They handled this very poorly and I'm sure they will have lawsuits filled against them. Outrageous.

    I feel like I avoided a mess.

My bridesmaids and I found a dress there that we loved a week ago. We were given the whole "you have to order online through this separate website" talk. So we called the number for the website, got an email address for a rep, and have been emailing her all week with questions and such. This morning I send an email telling her we are ready to order, and she responds telling me that there have been some major internal changes in AA in the past 24 hours and that she will call me later today with the details.

I'm glad we didn't order a few days ago and have to struggle with getting refunds!

Same thing with us @ABB! We found 2 we loved and were just going to check out Azazie before deciding. Guess they made it an easy decision for me!

If they are going down that route or just not organized, I'm just glad my dress is in my hands! I knew how they cancelled all in house alternations nation wide but dang AA be cray.

ETA: I'm curious to see if Disney says anything because of their FairyTail line at AA.

It's true. I read this last week from someone else's post and immediately called my local shop because my gown is on order there. They said they were not closing, they just weren't going to sell direct anymore. A week later and the store manager calls me at 9pm all frantic, saying they just got word yesterday that all retail stores are closing. Luckily my gown came in early, and I picked it up today. It's crazy...their corporate office is handling this so poorly. Seemed like the retail staff were given zero information and they're just as surprised as we are.
