Alfred Angelo Closing? UPDATED - THEY ARE CLOSED!

CountingDowntoMrs, on July 13, 2017 at 12:06 PM

Maybe I've been under a rock and this is old news or not true, but there's a post on a local FB page that all AA locations are closing today. Anyone know if this is correct? The post also says in-store items are up to 80% off. Update in comments.

When I went to go pick up my dress today they told me they sent it to my house yesterday. This doesn't make sense to me if they just found out about closing this morning. Did anyone else have a similar experience? Now I'm terrified I won't get my dress/accessories. They didn't even notify me that they were closing today or that they had sent out my stuff.

I'm just freaking out right now. I am one of those brides who thought they had their dream dress. I've sent an email to the one provided. Now it's a wait and see. :/

I stopped at a store to check out accessories.

They were telling girls their dresses were being shipped to their houses. I hope this is truly what happens!

Other than that, the employees did not know anything.

The manager at the store I stopped at was basically yelling at brides. None of the brides were being rude to her. I get she's having a TERRIBLE day, but no one deserved to be screamed at about their dresses. I felt awful for the brides.

ETA: her favorite saying was, "IT IS WHAT IT IS!!!"

MY ADVICE TO ALL BRIDES OR BMS THAT HAVE BOUGHT MERCHANDISE HERE THAT YOU HAVEN'T RECEIVED- Though this isn't a guarantee that you will get your money back...if you paid with a CC or debit card, call your bank and dispute the transaction ASAP. There is a chance the bank will refund your money. Good luck!

Does anyone know if this applies to retailers that sell AA as well? I just ordered my bridesmaids dresses at a bridal shop that was not an AA store but that's the designer of the dresses.

Well it's true- I paid $500 in alterations and will have to pay that $500 for the seamstress when I pick up my dress. She says the store owes her $30000. HELP Smiley sad

I heard this is true. So awful! For any bridesmaids left without dresses, www.vowtobechic.com has a lot of great options and can help! Tell your brides. I've used them as a bridesmaid before and they're so helpful. This is such an awful situation. My best to all affected. I'm so sorry!

@Alyson I'm in the exact same boat, the bridal shop I ordered from has no idea about any of this. I called them to see if they knew anything and they wanted to know my sources because they had no idea.

@AshleyC. I had the same experience. One of my BMs is out of town so I went to pick it up and the employee admitted to the dress being lost! She said it came in last week (which I did not get notified) and that now she can't find it. Since its lost they will mail the dress to her house, which I think is a total bs lie.

@Melaina thankfully I have to go in tomorrow for my flower girl dresses so I'm hoping to find out more information. We only put the deposits down last Friday so I'm guessing there's a chance they didn't even order them yet but that's probably wishful thinking on my end ??

@Alyson and Melania, as someone who works in a bridal shop that carries (carried) AA, our owners only found out because the CEO of one of our other lines called to tell us. Our AA rep, nor corporate told us anything about it. Obviously not all stores are the same so maybe some have more info than we do, but as far as we know... we literally have no idea what will happen with dresses that were ordered and haven't come in yet. Hopefully we'll get an actual statement from AA tomorrow. From what I understand as of an hour ago, they will still be selling online and through other boutique stores, so everything may be just fine for you. But I don't think anyone knows 100% for sure.

@Dani thank you for the peace of mind! I'm going to ask my salon tomorrow but in the event the dresses cannot be processed is it typical for bridal shops to transfer the deposit to another dress? I'm fine with not having that specific dress I'm moreso concerned that my girls all paid for half of the dress when we ordered them.

Honestly you'd have to ask your shop. Because if they've ordered the dresses already, then they've already given money to AA so the shop would just have to basically eat the loss of giving you a refund or exchange

This is such a bad way for a company to go out. What terrible leadership.
