All Clad vs. Calphalon

TheRascal, on November 16, 2015 at 10:32 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

I'm on the lookout for good stainless steel cookware and am debating between All Clad vs. Calphalon. From my understanding, All Clad is of better quality but a lot more expensive. Is it worth the extra money to go All Clad? Thanks in advance!

Can you cook on All Clad? It's different than Calphalon.

I cook all the time and am fairly experienced, I have All Clad for some things, but my daily use ones are calphalon.

I love All Clad but like VM said you have to know how to cook on it. Calphalon is great for daily use.

Are you looking for a set? Or are you looking to upgrade individual pieces? Are you asking about calphalon non-stick or calphalon stainless? We have one non-stick calphalon non-stick skillet and otherwise cook on stainless steel only.

All clad is very expensive, but I love my copper core stock pot by all clad. Personally, I would register for individual items you need or want to upgrade in All Clad if your question is about stainless steel cookware.

Thanks! VM, what makes the cooking experience different? I'm an experienced cook in that I cook a lot, but I've been cooking on Target cookware for the past 15 years (ie, since I graduated college). I'm on the lookout for a good quality set of pots and pans to replace the craptastic ones I've had for so long.

I'm definitely looking for a stainless steel set. Here are the two I'm considering:

I LOVE my All Clad. After reading what the other girls have said about All Clad, I'm thinking maybe I'm a natural?

I don't cook a lot, but I read the instruction manuals with my pans and watch a few YouTube videos before using them, and I think everything I've made has turned out great and I'm amazed at how well they come clean!

Trisha- I am just talking about people who have zero idea on how to cook on anything that isn't non stick.

Therascal- I thought you meant non stick vs stainless, guess I didn't read it correctly! hahah

Nope, stainless steel fo' life! But All Clad users, you like, yes? I was at BBB the other day staring at both sets and am so indecisive.

Most sets have way too many pieces; all you need is an omelette pan, a medium size pot with a lid, a giant pot and a skillet.

I use circulon and industrial stainless steel....really heavy stainless steel.

IMO, All Clad pans are longer lasting and heat really evenly. Calphalon is still a great brand though.

I would register for a couple All Clad pieces since a whole set is probably going $$$$$$

I hear ya, Celia. However, those sets have the pots and pans I use when I cook. It's just that my current pots and pans are of poor quality and I'd like to get some new ones that are long-lasting.

I'll look into Circulon as an option, too! Thanks!

Thanks, Lauren. That's another good option. I'm hesitant about the All Clad because of the price.

I'll price out some All Clad individual options, maybe with the cookware you recommend, Celia! And then fill in the rest with Calphalon.

    Hooray! Thanks!

I have both. I love my All-Clad, but do not use it everyday. I use the 3 (4?)qt saucepan for stuff like risotto, custard and caramel. I use my Calphalon sautee pan almost daily.

ETA: I have individual pieces, no sets. I don't like being tied down to all one brand. Plus, that is a big chunk of change to put down all at once. Smiley winking
