All inclusive resort VS. cruise

Michael, on January 10, 2017 at 3:31 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14

My FW and I are looking at honeymoon options and with our budget we're thinking something that's all inclusive and since both resorts and most cruises fit that description we wanted to know with a budget of around $3000 what is the better option. We would be flying to DFW area, or potentially if cruise leave from Galveston

All Inclusive. Cruises cost an arm and foot for alcohol. If you don't drink then either.

    OH Hi, its you.

I think an all inclusive resort would be more special... plus a drinking package on a cruise is like $400 per person ontop of what you already paid..then add in any excursions and spa visits...

I've seen better deals on cruises than all inclusives typically, but alcohol was a huge factor for us picking a resort.

We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres. It was all inclusive, adults only. The resort is in Mexico. We flew out of Atlanta- we paid $2600, that included round trip tickets for 2, and 5 days, 4 nights at the resort. I suggest working with a travel agent. It doesn't cost you anything out of pocket, and they're so knowledgeable. That's what we did and were very pleased

I think this kinda depends on what you want out of your honeymoon as well. How much alcohol are you going to drink? How long would you do either option? Do you plan to spend money on excursions or enjoy walking around "old town" or "sight-seeing" places or would you rather just lay on the beach or poolside?

Our 4 day honeymoon cruise to Mexico from Long Beach was under $800. We are allowed to bring a bottle of wedding champagne, so that will be one way to save money on alcohol. Best wishes!

If you are interested in cruises, sign up for the emails from the different cruise lines. They frequently have promotions that give free perks, like free gratuities or drink package.

I have been on several cruises and just wait to book for these promotions. I havent paid for a drink package yet!

You can do an all inclusive and shop around for the best airfare for flights. We got airfare to St Lucia for $900 total round trip in July by going Wednesday to Wednesday instead of Saturdays. And sandals has some rooms that are closer to 2k for a week. Or you could do a shorter trip and a nicer room. All your food and drinks are fully included as are tips.

A cruise doesn't include alcohol or tips.

I say cruise. If you use direct line cruises, they always have great deals. Right now they are having FREE premium beverage packages for certain lines. We are going on an 11 night caribbean cruise out of NYC for our honeymoon. It stops at 5 or 6 different islands, includes all food and drinks for 3000. Can't beat that!

We just went on a cruise in November and are thinking about doing another for our honeymoon. Don't buy a drink package. There is no way you can drink that much in one week. We drank all we wanted and spent less than 200 on alcohol. Royal Caribbean usually has some good deals so keep an eye out.

I've done both and you can get good deals on either but I think more often on cruises. However, alcohol is not included on cruises so if you drink a lot that could factor into your cost. They do offer drink packages. I think it's probably more about the experience. Are you looking to be cooped in the room with romantic alone time? Then all inclusive is better probably. Or do you want to explore different areas? Then a cruise is probably better. Not that you can't explore at an inclusive but I explore more on cruises because you can stop at different ports. I love both but it's really about what you're looking for in a trip.

Also some cruises have price guarantees if the price drops which is awesome
