All Inclusive Resorts that are not Sandals or located in the dr

Victoria, on March 18, 2021 at 3:13 PM Posted in Honeymoon 2 16

Hi everyone!

We are looking to book our honeymoon and after reading tons of your comments on other posts, I am starting to lean away from going to Sandals. I always thought of Sandals as a dorky -"I didn't know how to plan a vacation" vacation anyway! I am trying to look into better value resorts so we can afford to do more excursions!

My issue is that I DO NOT want to visit the Dominican Republic, seems like all the 5-star cheapies are here. I'm just honestly freaked out and wont be able to enjoy myself there and will be paranoid about leaving the resort to do excursions. Are there cheaper resorts that still offer tons of all inclusive luxury on other islands that are not SUPER EXPENSIVE or in the DR?? Just looking for a normal classy resort in the Carribean with lots of things included that is not Sandals....idk I can't find it, am I being too selective?

I am looking to spend between 3-4k

TY

Excellence or Secrets are other all-inclusive resort brands. The Mexico locations tend to be more affordable so might fall within your budget. The concept is similar to Sandals, though, so if you find that "dorky" then maybe they are not what you're looking for.

I second what Stacey said. Excellence and Secrets are the other 2 big adults only all-inclusive the are usually 5 star. Mexico, Jamaica, and DR are the 3 main vacation hotspots that are on the cheaper side. Aruba has a Riu which should be pretty nice. There is a Secrets in Costa Rica.

You mentioned being freaked out by DR? Is there anything in particular about DR that makes you uncomfortable?

Have you looked at Jamaica? They have a lot of nice all-inclusive adults only resorts. I stayed at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall in Montego Bay. It was a 6 day, 5 night trip in October 2019 for $1500/person, which included airfare, hotel, taxes, fees, and transportation between hotel and airport. Super nice resort with the friendliest staff! Food was excellent, rooms were butler service, and they had a decent amount of stuff to do on the resort. I didn't do any excursions since we were there for less than a week so I can't speak to what that would be like.

My favorite all inclusive resort is in the DR. I Lyon La Romana. What is your objection to the DR? So much better than Jamaica.

I'm having my destination wedding at the Now onyx in the DR next month. They have been great. My travel agent even went before the pandemic to make videos of the resort for me.

I would hold off on going to Jamaica they have had alot of covid cases lately according to my travel agent. Alot of the staff is bringing it to the guest. The staff have been getting it from other locals n family members and bringing to the resorts.

You don’t have many options with your budget... but Jamaica and Mexico will be lovely. Avoid Iberostar in Jamaica though.

Look on https://www.cheapcaribbean.com/ or https://www.allinclusiveoutlet.com ! You can browse by country, and compare what each resort offers, and read real reviews.

I actually just got home from my Jamaican Sandals weddingmoon. I fairly enjoyed it but I also wasn't looking for a whole lot. I really only wanted to be able to lay on the beach, eat, and drink. I wanted a lazy vacation! That being said I did really enjoy it and had a good time and was able to do an excursion. As for other all inclusives I don't have much, but I can imagine that most are going to have the same "feel" in that the purpose is to eat, drink, and lay on the beach. It would just be finding your price point. Also, make sure that your all inclusive is a true all inclusive. We had heard of some places putting guests on a tier level based on pay which could limit options! A suggestion is to join groups on Facebook geared towards all inclusive travel to see what they have to say. That's what we did!

Not sure if you've looked into it, but a lot of the resorts in Turks and Caicos are now all inclusive as of a couple years ago. My parents have been going every year for the past 15 years and have stayed at a good amount of the resorts on Grace Bay and they're really nice! I think The Sands and The Alexandra are where they've stayed the most and I believe the Alexandra offers all inclusive options, but you might have to call. Also, a lot of the resorts are offering really good pricing, so you might not even need all inclusive, just something to think about! Turks is beautiful and a quick plane ride if you're on the east coast! That's where we're looking to go as our France trip is a no-go until who knows when!

I’m on vacation in Cancun for the first time, at an all inclusive. Witnessed a beach front wedding last night! I’ve only been here 24 hours, but love it. All inclusive and well within your stated budget.

I went to Puerto Vallarta a few years ago and the per person rate was $800-ish dollars. Gorgeous amenities and situated right on the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

We are going to Cancun in June for our honeymoon. The flights were reasonable and the hotel had good pricing for 7 days all inclusive. Mexico and DR seemed to have the most affordable options. We felt it was worth it to shop around and search for packages.

My travel agent actually just gave us a quote for the Alexandra! I love the idea of going to Grace Bay, that sounds really nice!! Can you speak for how nice the resort is? It is hard to tell from the pictures online. This is definitely in our budget I just don't know if Turks and Caicos has many options for excursions. I guess I would be willing to part with that.
