Hi everyone!! Fiancé and I are torn between a couple venues. One is just a hall, nothing else included. The rental is very cheap, but we will need to bring in table, chairs, linens etc. I'm hoping a caterer would be able to supply glassware and dishes? We would also need a day of coordinator. One plus would be being able to bring in our own alcohol.

On the other hand, there is a venue that we like, just maybe not as much. We can get tables linens catering etc from them. We cannot bring in our own alcohol.

We are torn what to do. We would prefer a cheaper alternative. I am more concerned about the headache of planning where I need to find tables and chairs and everything as I am a full time university student in a professional program with not much free time. We do have two years to plan though.

Have any brides gone through either route and have any tips on cost and the stress involved?

Thanks!!

We went to a wedding that wasn't all inclusive, we were helping the wedding party take things down and keep it seperatedfor the different vendors. It was cute but I could see the headache the bride had. Our venue was all inclusive and we really didnt have to worry about much. We were able to bring in our own signs and the coordiator put them up. I was really happy with not having the headache and still being able to personalize things a bit. Totally worth the money.

It all depends on you! I know I personally don't have enough time to do anything but all inclusive, although it would be cool to hand pick every detail.

I did all inclusive, and it was fantastic. No one had to worry about set up or tear down. My friends and family arrived, and all was done. When the wedding was over, we all let the mess behind. My younger brother did the rent-table-and-chairs run for his RD, and I spent a good chunk of Friday helping to set up and then clear up from it. And I didn't get a thank you note. Yeah, I'm a little resentful about the whole thing-- I admit it.

All inclusive for me. I had to get a DJ, photographer, bagpiper and choose out of 2 bakeries for the cake (it was included in the venue price).

I looked at a museum and it would have been DIY and the price was similar.

All inclusive came with the coordinator and she is amazing.

I'm so happy with our inclusive package. Not having to mess with a bunch of vendors!

Our venue supplies food/bar along within the chairs, tables, and linens. All we have to worry about is the cake. I think for us it worked very well since we love the venue it self. I personally thin it would be more stressful to keep track of so many more vendors if it didn't include all that it already does. That's just my opinion though.

So we are doing all inclusive which is really helpful since we live in Seattle but we're getting married in Indiana. I think in the long run it ends up be less expensive, especially if you consider the time factor is takes to plan a wedding where you do a ton of research. I recently had a friend who got married and she was very much against the idea of all inclusive because she thought it would end up being generic. However a month before her wedding her exact phrase was "I don't what the fuck I was thinking." Everything worked out and it was lovely but she was very stressed.

Not sure the 2-years will be very helpful. You can research now and get price ideas but they might change in 2 years. Also a lot of places won't issues contracts until a year in advance so your timeline will probably be a year anyway.

Definitely sit down and price it out!

I did the "bring it all in yourself" thing. A lot of people are going to tell you that it costs more, but I will disagree!

My venue was DREAMY! So gorgeous! It was PERFECT - and it was only $500.

We had to bring in tables, chairs, catering... Everything. Being able to furnish our own bar was a huge plus and we were able to have a full open bar for a very decent price.

its totally do-able and it can be very cost-effective if you do it right!

You should be able to pay the party rental company a bit extra to set up everything for you, not just drop off chairs and tables.

You just have to be very organized. You can definitely do it!!

I love my all inclusive. It covers everything except fashion invitations and photographer. I don't have to worry about food and music decisions until 3 weeks before the wedding. It also comes with a DOC who already answers all of my questions. I know they're going to make my day great.

So you have plenty of time as long as you book your venue a year in advance depending on your date certain dates go faster I had to book mine really far in advance cuz mine is in Oct but I would definitely suggest the one that let's you bring your own alcohol for sure and I'd really be asking questions about the requirements of serving alcohol at all the venues your considering

I wish I had searched a little more I love my venue but I'm not able to do alcohol due to the venue I chose cuz we couldn't bring our alcohol we had to have servers with a license to serve we had to go through a cater for alcohol as well as pay for an off duty police officer to supervise altogether it would have been close to 2000 I decided I didn't want to pay that much and go through all that

We just were looking at the packages and the gold one was a pretty good idea! Did you have the ceremony here as well? Also, how was the food and dance aspect? I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions lol... Thank you so much! Congrats to you as well, 3 years in!

I did have the ceremony there also and it was beautiful the mirrored glass made for real nice pictures and the setup was beautiful. As for food it was excellent! There was so much food too. Helen was my point of contact and maitre d' and helped me pick out options because there was just so many! We also attended a meet the vendors party at Marconi manor and got to sample alot of the dishes and hors d'oeuvres so that was a great help too! Dancing was great the DJ was high voltage entertainment and they were our favorite vendor to work with, since we saved so much money by doing an all-inclusive we were able to upgrade lights and party accessories (lights, glowsticks, sunglasses, etc) and we had a dj + the mc it was so much fun. They also did all of our ceremony music and lights. Everyone loved them.

It's no problem at all! I know how stressful it can be and I went through so many places outdoor and in and it was all just so expensive so when we found this venue we were thrilled!

That sounds so beautiful and fun! The venue is a little further than where we are, but I might have to go with them despite that fact! It sounds like everything we're looking for, especially because like you said everything's just so expensive! Definitely going to try and be there for a "Meet the Vendors" party!

Definitely check them out or give them a call they also have a bridal expo there as well I believe. We were in long Island but my whole family was in Brooklyn it was a bit far but I blocked rooms at Hilton garden Inn and everyone stayed there.
