Allergic to flowers and also not good with asthetics

Avery, on December 12, 2019 at 11:01 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

I'm horrible with making things look good. Does anyone have ideas for decorations that are not flowers? I know that drapes are a thing... what else? Links or pics are appreciated. We're shooting for super casual but still picture worthy.

Would you be open to the idea of felt or wooden flowers? That's a common thing to do nowadays!

I'm not having a lot of flowers simply because they're expensive, so I'm doing a lot of candles and wooden features. I am going to have some greenery though.

I'm in the same boat I am very allergic to flowers. We are doing broach bouquets with a few fake flowers in them just to add some more dimensions. But it will be silver and ivory. Then for centerpieces we are doing a lot of candles. I picked up some different heights of candle holders from Hobby Lobby, along with some sparkly votive candle holders and glittery mason jars. I'm going to try to DIY some more mason jars in the spring and summer. We also have the sign in the link below that we are going to display as well.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm open to any of it. Wooden flowers? that's a new one for me, I'll have to do some digging on it.

So the first picture is what I’m doing but instead of real flowers I ordered wooden ones from Sola Wood Flowers. They came in a week ago and are so gorgeous!! They often have great sales so if you have time you can wait for one of those to pop up. I got mine during Black Friday and I got about 750 flowers for $200.

If you don’t want any flowers you could use stacked books with candles or lanterns on top or around them, lanterns with lights or candles in them, fake wreaths with candles in the middle (like the pictures). I was also just at a wedding where her centerpiece was a square piece of glass with 3 unique candle holders of different sizes on the glass. It looked really classic and elegant! Candles can go a long way and you can get scentless candles in bulk for pretty cheap.

You could definitely do wood, silk, or paper flowers instead of real ones if you want the look of flowers. For your ceremony, you could use an arch with draping and no flowers, and use lanterns, picture frames, vintage books, barrels/crates or candles to decorate. Are you also allergic to greenery? It's pretty popular now to emphasize eucalyptus and other greenery instead of flowers.

I would look into candles along with all the other options posters gave!
