Allergic to plants and flowers... Help?

Megan, on October 6, 2022 at 8:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi!

I want floral arrangements at my wedding but unfortunately I have debilitating allergies to them. I want to use fake flowers like silk, paper, or even wood. I do not know how to find someone who specializes in those materials though... Does anyone have any recommendations? I am not very artsy so DIY is kind of out of the question Smiley sad

Please help!
Thanks!

There are some discussions on the artificial flowers in the decor and DIY section. But you don't have to do it yourself.

There are some wood ones I think. There are also silk. You can buy or rent

You can rent them from Something Borrowed Blooms, it's cheaper than buying them and they have lots of different colors and styles.

There are many online sites where you can order or rent pre-made bouquets and arrangements. Or you could contact local florists. Many of them can order silk or “real touch” faux flowers and arrange them for you. That may be your best bet if you were wanting to pick out exactly what types of flowers are used and how they are arranged. Etsy sellers are sometimes able to customize arrangements for you as well, but a local florist would be able to make changes for you if needed (whereas an Etsy seller wouldn’t).

I completely understand allergies. For example, I cannot be around any homegrown cut flowers that are in someone’s garden. But fresh flowers from a florist don’t bother me at all, due to how they are grown. On the flip side, I have terrible allergies to fake flowers because they collect dust that you can’t completely get rid of. Check out all your options via Google for your area, including checking out a local florist and see what they can do.
