Totally curious! Out of all the people you invited to your wedding how many actually showed up?

Luckily my venue was pretty big, I think it was about half full.

For this reason FH and I are a little strict with both our RSVP deadlines and our guests count. We’re inviting immediate family, close friends and a few co workers. We are also inviting guests gradually and asking for RSVPs early. For family we have them a month to RSVP. Then we move to others including close friends etc and they have about 2ish months to RSVP. We need all our rsvps 2-3 months before the wedding and absolutely no later than 2 months ahead for everyone (final guest count) because we need to solidify this number to the caterer and other vendors.
We also have a small venue and cannot go over 100. We plan to invite 99 ish and hope to be at the 70ish mark. A few things I’ve started doing is talking less publicly about the wedding (social media etc.) then we cut back on co-workers, friends etc . It has been very hard but it’s money and every dollar counts! Good luck xx

I’d love to do that. Unfortunately I’m no longer in control of my guest list as my FMIL has taken over. She refuses to let me invite who my FH and I want to invite and instead use our wedding to show off to her extremely large family. I’ve had to cut down my friends and family because she just won’t take a hint. Our venue can only hold 30 and both my FH and I want a very small gathering of close family and friends. Now I’m panicked as she’s inviting people without even telling us. No idea who is showing up to the wedding now!

I’m so sorry. My previous advice then will not work for you. This is sadly a lesson on how the future can continue to be if you allow others to take control of your decisions. This has not been my experience as I picked up on this possible behavior many months ago and basically stone walled, so I’m getting whatever I want. All the best and try and make the best out of it xx
