I want advice from the community to determine if I’m being a bridezilla or if I SHOULD be upset. My wedding dress is heavily beaded with lace. When I bought it, the shop estimated $1000 and closer to $1500 for alterations if I lost weight and the dress had to be brought in. The seamstress quoted me $1200 and the alterations included: tightening sleeves, 3 tier-bustle, adding cups, adding some lace to sheer parts, sewing in nude fabric under sheer parts, and hemming the bottom. The waist and top did not need to be adjusted at all. Now that it’s time to pick up the dress, the total is $1600. Does this sound right or is she overcharging? I’m mainly upset I was quoted $1200 and it’s gone up $400 with no communication. Same seamstress told me to bring in my veil to be pressed so I did, then at the end of the appointment asked me if I had a veil when I had handed it to her an hour ago.

First of all, your dress is FANTASTIC and you look gorgeous! Smiley love And the back of the dress, wow just wow!!

And now back to your question, the lack of communication on such matter really is upsetting and concerning, I see where you are coming from Smiley sad They should inform you of any additional costs before proceeding with the work. Your feelings are totally valid. Ask them for a detailed breakdown of the $1600 cost because it is not okay and not the price you agreed on before. Best of luck to you with solving this matter and keep us updated!!!
