Alteration Tip?

Risa, on July 12, 2020 at 7:59 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

Hey,

Hope everyone is hanging in there! Just wondering what the etiquette is when it comes to dress fittings. My alterations are at the same place I got my dress (assuming that's standard). Do you tip the person who does the tailoring? If so, what is appropriate? It's the same person each time so was wondering if on the lat day you tip them. I'm in NY if it's different between each group.

I work in a bridal boutique in Chicago and a tip for the seamstress is not considered necessary but it’s always appreciated if they did a great job. I don’t know what the going rate is for your alterations, but I think $50-$100 would be plenty. I have seen brides also give spa or restaurant gift cards as a thank you gift rather than a tip. They will be happy you thought of them no matter what you decide. 😊

It's not expected Risa! But if you think they did an amazing job you could always tip up to $50. Make sure to also leave a detailed and glowing review of their service! 🌟
