Alterations - big decision... Opinions needed!

Laura, on February 13, 2020 at 9:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I hope that if I take out the tulle that my dress will go from this - to this. Sorry for all the posts but I have to actually make decisions at this point. Thoughts?!

I want this look... Here's the before and after of a similar dress.

Do you think my dress will look similar without the tulle?
I tried to find a very similar image and fabric/style to try to sort it out.

In my opinion, I think your dress looks perfectly the way it is.

If you did decide to take a layer out, I would only take one, maybe two out. I think it would depend on how many layers of tulle there are. To me your dress isn’t poofy to begin with.

I didn't think about doing it by layer - that's a good idea to make sure that I like it! Smiley smile

They will take out the tulle petticoat under for you. I see my dress in a week and May do same thing. More flowy less poofy right?

I would say just one layer. It looks close to where you want it! It’s beautiful

Exactly!! More flowy... Let me know if you do change yours and post pictures if you can. I'm going to try to tuck the crinkle between my knees to get a gauge of what it will look like.... But I'd love flowy so much. Smiley smile

Thank you!! I like the idea of moderation. I don't want to lose seeing the lace the lace trailing down the sides.

I would also go with taking one layer out. I did the same with my first wedding dress and it worked out great. They heavily cautioned me about taking it all out as it would be too flat and I'm glad I listened. You're going to look beautiful!!

If that's the look you want, sure take a layer or two out.

No problem!! It's always easier to take more out than put something back in when you are sewing/alterations, etc. Smiley smile
