I need someone to tell me I’m not crazy, please.
I picked up my dress from my “final fitting” and this just does not look right…
First off, I wore the same undergarments at the first fitting that I did at the second. When I came back the second time the dress didn’t fit with the bra so they were asking if I was wearing that the last time. Um, yeah. You measured me in it…
So anyway, they had me take it off and they sewed cups in. Ok cool, except I have very…flat boobs? Idk what you call it but they’re not full on top lol. So when I lift my arms, I have these HUGE gaps between my chest and the dress. I also have wide-set breasts, so even though they’re big there’s no cleavage to fill in that awkward gap (last pic).
I just found a rip in the front too. I wish I could post a video to show you. The boning is not holding anything in either, and there’s string hanging all over. I’m so glad they didn’t vacuum seal my dress yet (destination wedding) because if I got there and my dress looked like this, It would ruin my day.
If anyone asks why I took it home if there were so many issues, look, I’m human. I got overwhelmed at my fitting, there was a lot of family drama going on, and everything felt rushed. Don’t tell me what I could’ve done please, I just want help in figuring out what to do next. Like idk how to ask for what I need here. I’m leaving November 6th for Jamaica and my wedding is November 10th. 😭

Definitely give them a chance to fix it. My wedding gown was ruined during alterations and couldn't be fixed! As much as I didn't want to trust them to make it right I didn't have a choice. I only had a week before my wedding. They went above and beyond to find me a new dress and make all the alterations needed (and this time the alterations were perfect). I loved my new dress as much as my old one. Good luck!

UPDATE: Called the store, told the owner that I was very upset with my fitting. They had me come in and sure enough, they had to take the bodice in more. Plus they fixed a rip I had in the front and they’re adding metal boning for more support. Thank you to all that commented! I was really freaking out. I love the way it fits now. Thank you! The owner even apologized to me for the mess. I probably wouldn’t use their alterations lady again but I was definitely satisfied with my shopping experience there!

I would try the chicken cutlets and do different size ones until u get one that will give u the push up effect and a filler from the bottom. Good luck I am sorry you are going thru this.

They should be able to put cups in that push you up and fill in those gaps. This is definitely not altered correctly. You should snug all over the place. I’d def demand they fix it ASAP. If not, go elsewhere and leave honest reviews everywhere.

You don't have to defend yourself sweetheart, I would have been very very upset! Is there anyway you have time to find someone else to take it in? Some dry cleaners have an alteration person, all they have to know is that it isn't fitting properly. I used to know someone who would buy dress pants and take them to the dry cleaners to be made into skirts! These are the times that I wish there was a number that any bride anywhere could call and they would fix the problem! 😂 But I know you are feeling bad right now but where there's a will, there's a way. Or maybe an aunt who knows how to sow!?

Take the dress back and have them fix it. I had cups sewn into my dress as well and the fit was perfect

It seems like you have low density breasts that lack volume - which by the way is totally normal. With such a structured dress, its pretty normal that your breasts would shift and fill out the cups less with your arms raised. That's just how physics works! Its also why I hate strapless dresses for anything other than a quick photo or two (my boobs would also "move away" from the cups in a dress like this, and I like to throw my arms up in the air when I dance).

What does the back of your dress look like? If the dress is taken in at the bust, it will eliminate the gapping somewhat. Your boobs will be more squeezed and lifted with your arms down, but when you raise your arms they'll sit in the cups without gapping so much. If the back of the dress is high (the level of a strapless bra to maybe an inch or two lower), you should be able to have the overall bust circumference measurement taken in no problem, as they can just take in the dress from the side seams. If the back of the dress is low and the front is mostly boning and heavily structured material, it might not be possible to get that pulled in look because there is no fabric to make tighter to physically pull in the dress. The dress needs to be taken in regardless, but whether or not there is fabric at the back ribcage will impact how much support doing so will give your breasts.

It doesn't look like the people who did your alterations were very experienced. They should have done your initial measurements/fitting with whatever undergarments you were planning to wear, and the dress should have been marked/pinned at the appropriate point where the seam should be to provide support, not just cover the measurement. That might mean that the dress is actually an inch tighter than your relaxed bust measurement, to get the lift and support you want. Additionally there shouldn't be any rips or unsewn pieces during your final fitting.
