Alterations to mesh illusion with appliques and beading

Abbi, on January 10, 2024 at 2:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Would alterations be able to replace the mesh illusion color from ivory to nude? The front seems like no problem, but the back and straps have lots of appliques and beading. Wedding is in 11 weeks!

It seems quite nice the way it looks now. It may be a matter of preference, but the white mesh generally seems better -- like the appliques are more integrated with the dress color. Maybe a seamstress viewing this will have different recommendations though.

I agree, I think it looks lovely as is! Contact a seamstress ASAP about this option—I’m not sure this can be done without considerable time or expense. They’d have to remove all the appliqués (or buy new ones), and customize the entire top. I’d worry they could damage the fit if this is not an easy fix. 😳

I think it can be done, but it would be a total rebuilding of the top of the dress. Not a quick or cheap fix for sure!

The sash across your back adds a nice touch, especially if cleaned a bit. I am assuming that is something your are considering.
