Altering lace neckline?

Abby, on November 25, 2019 at 12:26 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3
I absolutely love my dress, however I’m not a huge fan of the higher lace neckline. Could I lower it without damaging the lace pattern?

Is this from David's Bridal? If so, someone from alterations may be able to answer this question if you go try the dress in store.

In my experience, you can lower a lace neckline, but you want to avoid cutting through the floral pattern. It looks like the florals extend kind of high, and I don't see a good cutting path that would take the neckline down as low as the second picture. I do think you could get more of a v-neck. It's hard to really say without seeing it in person though.

I tried that dress on and hated the lace. My consultant said that was one dress that she was fairly certain had the boning and structured required to make it strapless. Talk to a seamstress or alterations.

    Welcome to the community Abby!

This really is a beautiful dress! Have you had the chance to try it on yet?

I would definitely recommend inquiring with a seamstress about whether it is possible to alter the neckline before you purchase the dress, or decide that it is the one for you! You want to be sure that you can get it to look exactly how you want it to before making a final decision!!
