Alternative Bouquet Toss

NerdLove, on January 26, 2016 at 10:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

So, I had this idea, and I was curious as to what other brides thought of this idea. Instead of throwing the whole bouquet, I was thinking of getting a hand-tied bouquet, then when I would have thrown it, I untie it and hand a stem to each person I want to thank (such as my parents, his parents, etc.) then throw maybe a stem of hydrangeas or whatever. Thoughts?

I think it's a thoughtful idea. What kind of flowers were you thinking? I would honestly not throw anything. I'm not a fan of the bouquet toss and would skip it all together.

I mean it's a cute idea. And do it if you want. But I think the bouquet toss is just more of a fun thing. Not really a way to say thank you. I think you could find a more meaningful way to say thank you to such important people.

Side note: toss away bouquets are usually small and made specifically for that reason. You don't throw your actual bouquet.

I think neither is necessary. If you wanna do the fun tradition, fine but it just seems strange to change it...just don't do it. You'll probably be thanking these people if you give a welcome speech...

I've been to a wedding where the bride did this with roses. It was sweet and well received. The competitor in me likes the traditional toss though. Smiley winking

Honestly, just don't do a bouquet toss. It interrupts the flow of the evening.

My florist said she had a bride that had a throw away bouquet made, but instead of tossing it she gave it to the last couple standing in the anniversary dance

I think I've heard of giving flowers to parents as part of the ceremony before.

It's a tradition at my high school for the graduates to give flowers to their parents/grandparents/other important figures before the end of the graduation ceremony, and this is sort of what it reminds me of. I would give the flowers as part of the ceremony, and then toss a 'decoy' bouquet if you still want to do a bouquet toss.

You NEVER toss your bouquet....it is customary to have a smaller toss bouquet made up with flowers that match the brides bouquet just for tossing.

We did the tossing of the bouquet & the garter thing at my first wedding...

We are NOT doing it this time.

The traditional tossing of the bouquet to the single girls is to predict the next one to get married...

I've never seen it before but that would sweet! I wouldn't do that AND a toss though, just pick one. For my toss we have a ton of competitive females, but almost everyone is married, so we are attaching "Lucky in Love" lotto tickets to the bouquet and inviting all the ladies to participate.
