Alternative Centerpieces

I know there's flowers in them, but you could use greenery or something else.

My Aunt and Uncle had a "wine" theme for their wedding, they used a bottle of wine in a box with hay as their centerpieces.

You can do lanterns, books, carriages, ice sculptures, balloons. Fish bowls. Candelabra, cakes, cup cake towers, colored bottles with twinkle lights .... the possibilities are endless.

Edison bulbs are a nice touch for industrial venues.

Why can’t you do classic cars? Something like this maybe?

There are some really great options for minimalist/industrial centerpieces! I would probably not include actual cars in the decor, as it can come off a bit juvenile/child’s birthday party, instead of wedding. I think a subtle nod to his love for cars could definitely be worked in though! If you use aesthetically pleasing car parts, it could fit into your industrial vibe perfectly! If you want some thing a little more “on the nose”, you could rent his dream car to take him to the ceremony (and get pictures with), or for your exit after the ceremony (assuming ceremony and reception are in different places). You could also get a car themed grooms cake, or some sort of car themed cake topper for the wedding cake.

I agree candles in somewhat industrial type glasses would look nice!

We can't either. I guess you could put them in jars big enough to fit the cogs/wheels, so the flame is protected.
