Alternative Entertainment?

Christy, on December 3, 2021 at 6:33 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 5
Ladies (or Gents),

Anyone here doing alternative entertainment? We are hosting in a small venue (historic home) & we are not having a dj or dancing. Our reception (cocktail to exit) is 4 hrs & ends at 10 pm. Our guests will have no problem with mingling, so I have no doubt it will be fun for all. I’d love to hear some ideas for alternative entertainment though. We were thinking of trivia or a photo scavenger hunt, but I have no idea what that looks like in application. My daughter suggested trivia on Kahoot…and although there is a learning curve there, it could be an option.
Drop some ideas if you have them!!!

You could have some board or card games that the table can play together

We went to a wedding that had a scavenger hunt - they had clues on a sheet of paper and you filled in the blanks once you solved the clue and located the answer. They also had lawn games (like cornhole) set up, but it was an outdoor event.

We didn't really have dancing, and we just played music (a playlist) and people mingled.

As a guest, I have only seen dancing and mingling. Most people are content with those choices and don’t seek out others. People I’ve known in the past have done photo booths which depend on your crowd.

I would suggest at least having a bluetooth with some quiet music playing from a phone or laptop. Tends to take any awkwardness away Smiley smile But yes we are having a backyard thing, and will have cornhole, bonfire, card tables. Really depends on the feel you want.
