Alternative RSVP cards!

Kierst Nicole, on March 25, 2015 at 8:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 27

I'm trying to cut the costs of our wedding in any way possible. One way we decided to do this was to send our RSVP cards that indicate the number of seats reserved for each family/couple and then the options that they can take to RSVP. I don't have to pay for stamps or worry about mail getting lost/not returned/etc. Plus, I got to design this and make it look however I wanted Smiley smile

I'm not sure if anyone will comment about this, but I do have both mine and FH's numbers listed below the "call" option on our actual RSVPs.

*EDIT: I've changed the original picture that I had for this design. I don't need any lawsuits on my hands lol. AND I've made the changes suggested by FutureMrs... I think the wording works better for this Smiley smile

Good idea! I spent way more on postage than I did on invites, rsvp cards, and envelopes put together. I do enjoy checking the mailbox compulsively for RSVPs but it's not really worth it if you're trying to cut cost.

Those look good! Should you put your phone numbers on there in case they don't have them?

@FutureMrsWalton I added at the bottom of my initial post that in the ones we send out our numbers will be added under our names Smiley smile

I really like the image on the left! I think more and more people are moving towards e-RSVPing. So many people neglect to send the RSVP back anyway.

I love your design! We're doing the same idea with the online RSVP only.

I do have a nitpicky edit for you, if I may...Grammatically speaking, you should add "by" before calling. So it reads "Please RSVP 1) through our website 2) by calling..." I believe it would read better, although I guess it doesn't seem to bother most people!

ETA: since I'm being annoying...I would also make it either "adult-only" or "adults only." And I don't think it's a problem, but if you wanted to make it not stand out so much like, "Hey don't bring your kids, people!" -- you could say at the bottom "we hope you'll be able to join us for this adults only event." By no means necessary, just a thought.

Love this! We are doing online/phone only, but hadn't thought of still having an RSVP. Stealing!

@FutureMrs thanks for the edits! I'll definitely be tweaking these for the next few months before we send them out.

Same, Miranda...I hadn't thought of still using a card, but now you're making me want to, Kierst!

Yeah, you can't do that. It's owned by the artist and stealing is illegal. You can customize it on their site.

@Stephanie, thanks for pointing this out. I'll look into it! Seems as though a simple google search isn't so simple when it comes to finding pictures to create things lol.

I love the idea of RSVP online and by phone. It saves a lot of money on wasted postage. Good job.

Maybe add phone numbers? What if there are people who, for whatever reasons, don't have them? Then they have to call someone to get your number and that person may say "Oh...I could RSVP for you!" and what if they don't....?

@Maltese, I said in my initial post an in a comment that our numbers will be on the actual RSVP.

@Wendy, our website was listed on our save the dates and is on our invitations. Everyone will be well aware of what our website is lol.

I put the RSVP info on our invitation because I saw that all of the other information on the invite was segmented in a way that would make the RSVP portion look natural. I wanted to save money, but I mainly wanted all info to be on one piece of paper for our guests' convenience. The back of the invite has pretty scrolling and contains hotel details and fun info for out-of-town guests who might have down time before the wedding.

Another edit. RSVP stands for" respond please" (responde, sil vous plais" or something like that) in French. so you dont want to say "please respond please". Just RSVP. 'course maybe it will make people respond sooner....
