Perhaps you can organize another fun activity for the bridesmaids and sisters/moms to join in on? I think a wine tasting, dinner and a movie, a day trip to the beach, or even a picnic would be nice. It can be "strictly no gifts" and only include a few people so it doesn't feel like a shower.

    I love Laura's idea!

If you want to give her an actual item, you could reach out to those people you would be inviting to a shower, and ask them to send a picture, funny story, or favorite pasttime/memory and you can compile them in a book. Or, you can have a "tips" book where everyone gives a piece of advice about married life - from recipes to household cleaning tips to fun vacation ideas to... "adult" themes. This way, all would-be shower guests participate, and she gets a tangible item to keep.

I like Laura's suggestion too! When I got married last year, instead of a bridal shower, I got some spa treatments done with two good friends of mine (their treat) and then they also scheduled a girls-only dinner at a historic inn-style restaurant where several of us got together to just be girls. Drink wine and gossip!

Why don't you just have a girls night out but make it clean. Make some dinner and have some wine and then after dinner have girls night. Like doing each others make up and hair and share stories about yourself with each other. Don't forget to play wedding games.

How about a Bridal Breakfast with the company of the mothers, etc. Maybe even top off the morning with a play or martinee. There are a lot of things you can do in addition to the stated spa treatments, etc.

Check out www.slumberparties.com. This is a great alternative to a girls night out. My wife does this in the Va/DC area and has much success. Not sure what part of the country you are, but they have reps in every state. Just a thought...

Ooh! I had another idea for you! This one is coming from me while I'm wearing my photographer's hat (instead of recent bride hat)...

Every girl likes to get dressed up to go out. Sometimes there's more fun in getting ready than actually hitting the town so perhaps you can have an at-home make-over night (or day). Instead of going out, make arrangements wtih a photographer to do model shots of the bridal party. People are shy about wanting their picture taken but if it's arranged for them, it's easier to deal with and you'd be surprised how much fun it will be!

Please let us know what you end up doing...

To add to the "photographer" idea. Have your friends and you hold up table numbers in some of your pics and them use them on the tables at your wedding.

    Make Over Parties are fun!

Get all the wedding party together and hire some one like myself to come over, play games, and show you how to utalize what you have in your makeup bag! Play dressup with your own makeup with a professional artist!

    OR...

having a lingerie party is fun too!

Spa Days are fun especially if you add in a "Martini Bar" including Mocktails (for non-drinkers) to be served during the day

If your into horses a day spent horseback riding is fun and relaxing

Slumber parties? It’s Pure Romance. Be truthful for crying out loud. I was really hoping it was something involving real slumber parties!
